Hi all,

Mobile speed cameras increasing from 6 to 42 vehicles.

Mobile speed camera locations increasing from 142 to 2500 (inclusive of 500 "high risk" locations)

Safety cameras increasing from 91 to 200.

You can check out the locations here:
http://www.rta.nsw.g...a_locations.pdf

^ Its only 28-pages long, so shouldn't take you too long to read

Jokes aside - I don't know about where you guys live, but there are some real bullshit "high risk" locations marked in my area....

Thanks for the info, it's nice to you know where they will try and get you.

They have listed a road near me as 'High Risk' which is only 500m long, has been recently resurfaced, is dead straight and has a 60km/h limit, such a joke.

Surely some of those are only proposed sites though aren't they? There are some locations there that already have a speed camera but have been listed as having 4 more cameras AND a safety cameras AND 3 mobile speed cams within the distance of about 6kms. 6 fixed and 3 mobile cameras in 5kms?? Really?

Wow that's pretty bad. You could cop a big bill if you're not paying attension....

I would say that those fixed camera locations are double entered into the list because on main roads, they tend to have fixed cameras on both sides of the roads right? That doesn't mean you'll get pinged twice, its just that there is one for either direction of traffic.

Some spastic in a civic will still find a way...

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

No worries. Close to a dozen new mobile speed cameras in my area.

What are they exactly? Almost every major road in my area is set to get one. (east suburbs) ...
Are they just a car with a camera on the back of it which moves up and down the road?

Get out of my thread.

LOL @ some of the high risk areas near me! WTF!?

I'd like to know the way they determine high risk. I thought they were trying other ways to reduce the road toll?

Putting unmarked vehicles on the side of the road with a speed camera in them is not reducing the road toll, its revenue raising. If it was marked then people would slow down because they can see it.
See what im saying?

If it's un-marked, people won't know when it's there. So theoretically, they won't speed ever ;)

Generally they are black Ford Territory's with a black box on the top of them. They dont move up and down the road persay, but set up shop on the side of the road for a while.
Generally they'll also have a sign 20m or so after you pass them saying something like "your speed has been checked"...

On the way down to the snow my mate swears he saw a white station wagon falcon sitting perpendicular to the road with a cop looking guy in it and a black box on top of it....dunno if he was correct in thinking it was a mobile speed cam?

Up here they generally use Mercedes vans. Also 4wds, wagons...and "apparently" a horse float on the highway. They are also putting them in wheelie bins etc

It's just getting ridiculous. Spend more time trying watching the Speedo than the road.
