They seem pretty popular on Rexnet. Why are you looking at new turbos already, you haven't even got your current one working yet :P

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

friend of mine has a kunigawa td05 20G 7cm for over 15k now with no problems.

I wouldn't go any bigger than that without other supporting mods or it will be a dog below 3800-4000rpm.

turbo change is only around 4 hours, stick with the td04 for a while and you won't need a tune to begin with. it will handle a TBE with no problems.

go big too early it gets boring. my car just feels normal now...

Yeah fair enough. I suppose it's a good idea, start small and when I get bored step it up.
Thanks for the advice.

are you sticking with the stock cooler? if you going bigger turbo you need a bigger cooler.

if it is your first turbo car this is also advisable (haha old man talking!)

Using a ported VF34 on a stock MY02 top mount, Does the job just fine.

Stick with the TD04 until you get bored, Then go bigger!

it would be a huge waste of time/money if you were to tune a TD05 (any variant) with the stock cooler. it will limit you in power, you won't be able to track it and you will suffer from heatsoak. http://www.processwe...u/pw_p_tmic.htm some proper testing on dyno/street using temperature sensors on the inlet. the higher the inlet temps the higher risk of detonation (hotter the mixture gets the more prone it is to igniting early). that testing was only using standard turbo let alone something larger.

You should look into going water to air intercooler. No need to cut apart your front end for a fmic, they work really well. PM Matt as he has been looking into it for a while and will be pushing some serious power.

If i were upgrading turbo's id be going to one of these

But i still drive an NA wannabe shitpreza.

I have just been put in contact with DJA and he is selling a VF22 which I am told will fit straight in with no extra mods.

Any opinions?

Good turbo. Can see 200+ with right mods. P20 rear housing means slightly slower to boost but you get it back at the top end
