Not sure how available it is, but I use Mobil Delvac 15W 40. It's a diesel truck oil but it's great for turbo charged engines. I can only find it in a few Repco's.

speak to the person who rebuild the engine. if it under warranty its worth asking

Have you put any more thought into squeezing some more power out of the engine. Like strapping on one of those intake fans

Subaru in castle hill use 5-35 Castrol edge on my 08 WRX. I give them an oil to put in though - its motul 300v 10-40w, the best stuff out. Full Synthetic Grade 5 oil. Red line and royal purple offer similar oils. If you want the best of the best you could buy Fuchs or HKS, but that's insane $$$$. Best bang for buck is the Motul, about $120 per change. There is like a 200 page thread on it in the SAU forums (my previous ride was a heavily modded R32 GTR) and the consensus is that the 300v is the one to use.

n199er whut?

I once asked a rep for Motul to show me documentation of the grading that they allegedly use to compare their oils against others.

He had nothing. Not a word. Not a piece of paper. Nothing. Just tried marketing hype and bullshit.

If you're draining it every 5000km, it's not worth spending $120 on 5L of oil, to have to drain it within a couple of months, only to find $25 worth of oil, will do the same job, if not better.

I've tried them all. From Redline (two bottles of 4L = $260) down to Delvac ($90 for 20L).

I was stunned how well Delvac worked. No blowby at all. No noise on start up. No oil consumption (previously, used 1L per 5000km).

No marketing bullshit will ever beat personal experience (over six years of turbocharged Subaru, personal experiences).

Delvac for the win.

I'm with Alex.

I've used magnatec for well over 100 000ks.

And now I've switched to delvac.

Spend the money on mods :D

Please please please never run Royal Purple in your Subaru engine.
That shitt is aids in a bottle.

I had it in for less than 1000kms and was a very expensive exercise at $99 for 5L.
That was using a genuine Subaru oil filter.

I put Penrite HPR 10w 50 in the other day, with a Drift magnetic oil filter and I am just going to say, what an effing upgrade!
Engine is 1000000x smoother

I thought OEM was best for filters?

Subaru filters are better than anything else.

But if you can't get them, always aim for something that has that non-return valve in them.

Yep, genuine wasn't available unless I travelled and I just wanted to get to of the disease that is Royal Purple from my engine.
Was going to go Ryco, but then I decided magnetic and these drift ones have a bolt welded to them for easy installation and removal.
