Hey guys,

so my seat belts were squealing and whistling everytime they were used, i didnt think much of it until a kid got in my car and said my car sucked because of it...(Gutted) so i did some research and found out how to fix it. There are a few of these on other sites but pretty sure Subyclub hasnt got one so i thought i would write one up. Its probably the most easiest DIY you can do. excuse my lack of technical terminology etc....

Car Model:
2002 Impreza RX

Time taken:
Start to finish 10-15 min

Tools needed:
1x flat head screw driver
1x stanley knife

Attached File  IMAG0031 size test.JPG   241.93KB   9 downloads

Method:
Using flat head screw driver remove clip on the rear side of the seat belt cover pillar. It is located right near the rear door hinge.

then using your hands simply pry the rest off, its only held on by a lip
once the plastic seat belt pillar has been removed lay it flat on the ground. You will notice 3 raised plastic sections marked with crosses below

Notice that one will have alot of fabric/dust on it. That is due to the seat belt rubbing on it, this is the cause of the whistling seat belt.

Attached File  IMAG0035 re.JPG   442.06KB   5 downloads

using the stanley knife simply begin to cut this lip away

Attached File  IMAG0041re.JPG   208.5KB   5 downloads

Until it is flush with the base of the pillar

Attached File  IMAG0039re.JPG   254KB   5 downloads

i removed all three plastic lips although the top one is the one causing all the noise.
then simply place back over seat belt and reassemble. when placing the clip that was removed with the flat head screwdriver back in use your fingers to push the 4 point clip back together

Attached File  IMAG0043re.JPG   162.03KB   6 downloads

and then insert.

really easy, simple and effective
