One of my best mates and myself were enjoying some fine alcoholic beverages the other weekend, when we decided it'd be a mega idea to buy some $1000 rides and flog the shit out of them. We decided we needed RWD beasts, and the only option was really a falcadore. it didnt take long to realise that there really wasnt any in decent running condition or with more then 2 days rego for under $1000. so we up'd price limit to $1500.
After days of searching, dealing with wankers on gumtree. my mate ended up with a nice white EF wagon Futura (features front electric windows, and a clock. it already had a sports exhaust, and due to an idle problem it sounds like a big block v8, it also featured a bull bar, which comes in handy...he paid a total of $1500 for it with rego till april next year.
i was on the boarder of giving up. after so many failed phone calls, or seeing cars advertised at dealers and selling within a day. times were hard. until i seen this beast pop up on one of the bazzilion "buy sell and swap" pages on facey. I quickly inboxed the lady, stopped eating my pizza and got a lift to the place at Windale (anyone from Newcastle will understand) it was a young single mum who owned the car. although it was her ex's car. yet rego'd in her name. after a quick test drive i bought the car for a grand total of a grand. with rego till march. signing the rego papers over to the sound of police sirens in the back ground, i took it for a nice drive to lay down some rubber and make sure it was right.
It wasn't till later that night i had to go jump start my brother's gen1 liberty as it had a flat battery (typical shitbox suby) that i looked to see how clean the engine bay was, i was so surprised it looked almost new!
Yesterday we took the cars out for a bush bash and what a mad adventure it was! playing cars at the traffic lights is a pretty wicked experience too.
So the car comes with a pretty wicked out of the box power plant, 4Litre big block straight 6 producing a mind blowing 157kW engine with 357Nm. Not even 10kW less then the V8. 4spd auto and features and aftermarket JVC head unit.
Future mods:
welded diff or an LSD
Rims front only, stockies on the back if you know what i mean
Potential re-paint army green.
maybe fit a canon muffler or look for a second hand sports exhaust system.
anyway less talk more pics, and videos to come.

Awesome!!
Jelly about the wagon though: Having a car with a towbar! I'd shank Kent's for that right about now! So many loads of rubbish to take to the tip, and my arsetra doesn't have one!!
So what's the plan? Dedicated slider? Or enjoy it as a boganbasher?

Every car ive owned has a towbar alex, so handy! Although you loose a bit of steeet cred rocking one. My sedan actually come with that box so you can run a trailer with electric brakes.
Its pretty awesome having a car that you really dont give a about.

Gospel!!
My last thrash box (My old L series) I washed with gumption, was three different shades of white (including refrigerator white) and was driven with absolute disrespect. So much so, I'd drive it up gutters across footpaths, just to avoid being stuck at traffic lights.
I'd say one of the most enjoyable cars I've ever owned, because I've never had to worry about it (much).
You're gonna have so much fun with this!!
Sould scope out pick'n'payless out at Blacktown. Acres of falcadores.

Oh yeah sweet, will have to look into it when i can be bothered. Its pretty cool that like every wrecking yard around the country would have pretty much any part id need for these.

Since these cars certainly don't lack any performance, visual modifications were an obvious first choice.
First up was Donny's big block.
To keep the whole race car imagine going the paint theme was obvious outback style. IMO nothing says 'race car' more then a two tone outback. Since a Gen3 20psi was out of the question, we went with an outblack style.
Taking special care. No fancy 200kg tool boxes or special paint supplies for us, just the basics.
Paint time!
But two cans didn't get very far, so we had to finish the beers, jump into the shitpreza and race on down to our local supercheap auto, 4cans for $10, cheering! Why people waste thousands of dollars on paint and body work is beyond me.
eventually we finished, let the paint dry for a bit and removed the masking, then cruised onto the beautiful Newcastle foreshore where we had a photo shoot.
It reminds me of some sort of american JDM cop car.
Run out of time to do my falcon but hopefully i have it finished before Bathurst

You and your mates need to tatoo 'Jake' and 'Elwood' on your knuckles.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
