after recently selling my rex i thought i'd try something new, had a couple turbo subarus now and nearly got swayed over to a spec B gen4, however wasn't really what i was after. had a dig at the 86 GTS and was mighty close there, but the way i drive (and lack of due to job) i wouldn't be making the most of it (6000+rpm at the time :D)

so after reading this years BFYB in the motor mag I saw this little beast come out on top (2 years in a row) and had to go take it for a test drive and fk me what a little ripper it was! i hate to say it but for day to day stuff this car is waaaay more fun to drive than the wrx. the ride is stiff but supple and 0-100 times match the current Golf GTI and will do a mid 14 quarter out of the box. price was decent so i jumped on board...

So cute

Yes, yes it is haha

Some more tech figures - 200nm @ 2000rpm and 250nm at 2500rpm! Couple that with 0.03sec gear shifts and pulls hard.

yea mate i have about 3 or 4 options for tuning, all will yield around the 150kw mark / 300nm. gonna clock up a few more k's before i go down that route though :)

thanks for the kind words, it certainly is a different beast to the rex

Nice choice Alex.

Good cars come from VW, better with a GTi badge.

i'm 6"1 and fit in it with ease, if it were going to be too small i wouldn't of bought it - pretty strict on that even before i saw it in person.

it has a fairly smart full fold with removable base also, haven't had to use that yet.

i've always wanted a euro, and does it have some weird and cool shit like compartments everywhere, chilled glovebox, underseat storage, auto windup all round on locking.

unfortunately i only get to drive this thing on sat/sun!

Have u been over at vwwatercooled.org.au some handy stuff over there...

Did u know with the auto wind up with locking, if u hold in the lock button u can make the windows stop wherever u want
