Yeah. I'm going to go ahead and say a 20% drop in net profit isn't really a good result. Though I assume it was consolidating and writing off a lot of unsustainable assets.

I must have missed this! I just assumed they got a good result given the surge in their share price, they have gone from about $24 to nearly $30 today (not all in the one day, but I mean their share price as of open is near $30)

Yeah I think they're at a 3/4 year high on share price. They're one of the first banks to look like they've dumped a lot of bad debt, but NAB is still the most reliant on UK stability. So we'll see.

Shazbanger will weigh in, I'm sure. Maybe when the sook is feeling better.

MLC is to blame for the drop. They've just been issued with a massive fine from the ATO for not keeping trust accounts managed correctly, and as such, they've been instructed to regain upto $1b in assets. Also contributing as Nik said, is that they are selling off the UK arms of the bank. Clydesdale and Yorkshire bank specifically, as they are turning a constant loss, and not making any cash.

On the bank results tip, the only time to actually bother listening/reading is the day of release, within the first hour or so, after that, the sugar coating is so thick you have no idea what anything means. I swear. The guys that are press faces for the banks could come around your house the day after someone shot your Dad and duct taped your Mum to the fridge, and make you think it was all a positive team building move that positions your family for future capitalisation of adverse circumstances.

Nah the above one isn't the ASX game, thankfully it is my actual portfolio so real monies rather than fake monies! It is a speccie so they don't feature in the ASX game.
