Hi Everyone,
Finally.. the time has come for me to get my blacks!
I've briefly read the DQT handbook but will read more thoroughly later..
Though, just wondering if anyone had anything to particularly note or suggest when attempting for blacks?

Much appreciated.

Just study the chapter summaries and you should be fine. Good luck!

Just before I took mine, I Googled something like 'dqt hard questions' and it came up with a few forums with people discussing it.

One of the discussions was about a particular question and the answer was a percentage. I ended up getting that Q in my test and got it right because of that forum!

Anyway, have a Google and see if you can find something similar? They're very statistical...

Oh, and basically, if you are male, you will die in a car accident.

You should definitely start off by chucking a massive skid. The driver testers love that shit.

But seriously, learn the percentage questions. Even though I'm not sure how knowing a percentage of road toll per state matters to your actual driving ability.

I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!! Throw in the greens, green peace, unhcr, save the forking children and I've well and truly hit my limit for the number of fuckstains wanting me to sign something or give money. Seriously cubts,  :fork: right off.

I remember doing a sociological question about if this person does this and this person does that in their general day to day life who is more likely to cause an accident or die? I was like wtf? That has nothing to do with someones actual driving ability..

Anyway answer was the person that is more likely to take risks... Whoever comes up with questions probably sits in the back seat of a car and gets chauffeured around

Yeah, they have absolutely no relevance to driving.

Well my licence is yellow up the top... so it is considered Gold... and its a full licence...

Ahhhh mine is a full unrestricted licence... which is the same as a Black I'm guessing... but mine is from like 5 years ago...

if you are a young male, you are always likely to die or be the one in the wrong or caught speeding etc.

its alot of common sense questions from memory and statistics, take the approach of the answer is always the one the RMS wants to hear.

the other half is the same as the greens test, Hazard perception, when you have to touch the screen when you would brake or for a suitable gap in traffic when you would turn or overtake. basically tap the screen as soon as you even see a thing move and never go for any gap haha

The yellow strip across the top means you bought an unrestricted licence that is valid for 5 years. Also considered as 'blacks'.

If you have an unrestricted licence with a maroon strip up top, it's valid for 3 years. Still means you are on your blacks.

+1. Ha ha!

Blacks = full license, no matter what colour the top strip is. I don't know where the name came from though.

Good work to those that have 13 points though. I just thank God that I've got my license now, with full seven points (on my greens still). *knock on wood*

I'll be going for my unrestricted driver's license in September this year I'm pretty sure. Can't wait!

Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

DQT isn't that hard. It's just half your L's and half you Green P's.

More statistics based, then the DKT though.

Also, woo for 13 points.. which I think I only have 5 left. Should be up to 11 this year.

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

I recall one question which I didn't know the exact answer of....

If you're pulling out from a sidestreet onto a main road and need to cross to both directions of traffic - how many seconds gap should you allocate to both directions of traffic when you pull out? I think the answer was something like 3 and 5 seconds but its the sort of question most people wouldn't know the answer of unless they read it in a sample test. In real life, you just use common sense and use your own discretion based on what you can see and the conditions at the time. But in the test, it can be very abstract like that and you can get an easy question wrong.

Good luck! If you fail, do expect lots of mocking :P

I highly doubt he'd tell us that he failed. He just won't announce when he's going on, just when he ends up getting 'em. Ha ha! ;)

P.S: I haven't seen you anywhere near my area. Wasn't it you that lived near me?
