So i thought after a few years on subyclub, id better get around to making a build thread.

So this is my 98 BD GX liberty. Paid just a touch under $5000 back in mid 2011.

When i purchased the car. Its mods included;
Lowered on king springs(unknown models) on standard struts i believe.
Cat back 2.5" with one hotdog/resonator to a 4 inch 'Supercat Cannon'. (Sounds great for an N/A IMO)
18" G2 Wheels with 225/40/18 rubber.
Chrome refelective window tint.
Complete RX body kit, skirts, front + rear bars(including foggies)
Leather interior out of a Bilstein liberty.
Woodgrain inserts including windows, stereo, aircon, dash surrounds.
Colour coded moulds.

This is how it looked when i got it home.

First mod, picked up some cheap UEL headers from a gen 1 lib, 10x better already.

I installed a 12" Alpine type-r sub, and two 6x9's in the boot, which helped with the red p-plater status.

As time passed, looking at the ugly 18" chrome wheels was getting way to much.
A mate of mine was selling a clean set of 17" gen 4 gt rims repainted in 'Rays titanium Bronze'.

The car stayed this way for a few more months with no real changes. I was loving what i had.

Then came around my 18th birthday, which turned into a day in which id rather forget. Making a few irresponsible choices, resulted in a trip to the local 5-0 station the following morning, a Court attendance Notice, and a 18yr old teenager, shitting bricks at the thought of court and an automatic sentence of 3yrs loss of license. Court date came around, lawyered up, got it down to a minimum sentence of $600 fine, and 12 month loss of license, and the charge of 'Driving in a manner dangerous, recklessly/furiously or at speed in a manner dangerous to the public' stamped on my record.

So with no license, saving money and boredom i went on the search for parts.

I eventually purchased R-Y's old BC BR coilovers for a good price, which were in top notch condition. Even in the original box, spanners and instructions, Cheers for that mate. Which were placed in the shed for a month or so.

As I ticked over 200k timing belt was on the agenda, so i set aside a day with the boys, and did the job. A few days later, threw the coilovers in and that was that. I set it at a sensible height as currently my parents are using my vehicle to get me to work etc, as i pay for fuel and other expenses as it was my fault to begin with.

Getting bored, I bought some 30000k foggies, and some led strips for footwell lighting. The blue leds in the footwell werent exactly what I was looking for, so Im looking into getting some warm white lights instead. This is how the car looked at night, the lights shining from the front of the car were only the foglights in this photo.

My next purchase was a mint set of 2010 Wrx wheels, with tyres at a price i couldnt refuse. So i snapped those up and this is how they look....
Posted Image

I dont know which wheels i prefer yet, So currently i have 3 sets. I guess it cant hurt to have a few spares. ;)

Anyway, the car had been repaired and repainted in some areas before i purchased it, but as time ticked over the repainted areas including the boot, spoiler roof, pillars, front and rear bars, began to fade, chip, and even fall off. I figured I'm more than likely going to hold onto this car until my blacks, which i cant get now till the mature of age 22, So i may aswell make it look good.
This is why i need new painttt haha Posted Image

Old wheels thrown back on, ready for paint. And the addition of a Subyclub sticker, and shes all ready to go!
Posted Image

The car was dropped off only a few days ago to the spray painter, and is booked in for a full respray in factory colour, also shaving the aerial and rolling the guards for me.

Planned future mods;
Front lip
HID headlights
Front + Rear Swaybars
JDM Projectors
Lowwwww!
Tarrboooo Bonnet.

Then when off the P's, v3 sti conversion :) or something of the equivalent value when the time comes around!

So yeah, thats basically how my BD liberty, Gen2 GX sits now. As of 20th June i get my license back. Hopefully have the car back by May 15, get a few things done in time for the Hunter Valley Cruise on June 22nd! Talk about timing!

Thanks for the read guys!

Awesome read. Unfortunate to hear about your loss of license though; been there done that, x24 months though.

Very good car you've got and it's come out really nice mate. I really like the colour of those GT rims actually, but the design of the WRX rims look better in my opinion. The whole build is coming along nicely and you sure do have a few things to do before the Hunter Valley Cruise. Keep up the good work!

How much is your respray costing you if you don't mind me asking?

Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

Can you hook a brother up? Please contact me now. I have cash ready.

Nice ride. I think we've all been in trouble with the law at times. Depth of the shit varies. Just curious as to the cost of the respray? Would love to do mine.

Oh, and i prefer the bronze gt rims. Very 'Katut'

Great write up and a good read!

I quite like the wrx wheels, set it off nice, but the bronze GT's do looks tops aswell.

As Jarrod and Garry! have mentioned, most of us have had run-ins with the onetime, was suspending for 4 months for speeding.

Cheers,

Ash

Both sets of subaru wheels are 17x7. And they 18's are 18x8 or 18x8.5...These wheels scrub a fair bit haha. And my respray is costing me $3000. Others quoted me between 4.5k and 8k..ive seen his work before and its pretty good. So It seemed like a good deal to me..

Pretty good prices to be honest. I've been charged $5,000+ when I was looking at respraying past cars. It'll come out looking amazing man.

Okay guys, so finally got the car back last saturday. Was at the spray painter for 3 weeks! Overall am happy with how it turned out, its not a show car job, but its decent. Half way through the job, I sourced a gt-b bonnnet, timing was shithouseee. Anyway so ive got the car back, back on the old wheels, lowered to good height. So he's now painting the bonnet and should have it back in about a week or so.

This is a few of the car being prepped for paint.

Also did an awesome job rolling my guards!
Heres a few photos of what she looks like now :)

Now just awaiting the new bonnet, and then all that remains is a few handling mods.
So keen to get my license back and for the Hunter Valley Cruise. That many suby's in one place, all with like minded people is gonna be epic!

Also, ignore shit 18's. Only on the car for painting. No h8. haha
