And six speeds are good but be careful; I read somewhere the Lib 6 speeds arent anything like the STi 6 speeds.
As soon as i mentioned 300kw I was in trouble

Yes this, apparently they are quite susceptible to failure. My mate with the SpecB just had to fork out a few grand to get his replaced

I know the center diffs are prone to binding up but I'll deal with that if it ever happensYes this, apparently they are quite susceptible to failure. My mate with the SpecB just had to fork out a few grand to get his replaced

hey guys sorry dont come on here as often as i should anymore... as some of you have seen the car is back on the road
the 6 speed feels amazing even with the open diffs! it has completely changed the way the car drives. its so much nicer to drive in everyday traffic now.
as for the turbo.... well.... its big... its laggy.... but when it comes on boost at 4700rpm and hits 22.4 psi it pulls damn hard!
now i originally bought the turbo with the intention on building a 2.5 (which i will still do one day) but got impatient..
having said all that tho the car is still untuned... im sure once i get it tuned, retard the timing a bit to create more exhaust heat to get the turbo to spool quicker and add some e85 into the mix the car will be alot more fun to drive but for now im happy with the 201.5kws altho i think ill stick the vf23 back on for the time being
heres my dyno reading from the dyno day car still runs very very rich according to my wideband

Hi guys,
sorry its been almost 2 year ive been off the grid!
thought id let you all in on what has happened to the car during that time.
about 6 months after installing the 6 speed and r180 i decided to go a different route with it all and pulled the back of the box apart
and removed the center diff and replaced it with a rear wheel drive spool to do some fully sick drifting
i also removed the 180 and pulled out the open center and chucked in a 2 way lsd
while this was fun and all.. i ended up snapping about 4 r180 shafts
so back to awd it went as the r180 shafts were hard to come across.
i scored a great deal on some brembo brakes and some rays gram light wheels that i could not refuse so i snapped them up and installed them
Then around August 2015 the enviable happened.. the head gaskets on the v2 sti engine had finally given up! after approx 6 years of hell and abuse.
so out the motor came to be repaired.
i had been led to believe that the version 2 sti motors were closed decked from factory.. but to my surprise when i pulled the heads off i found an open block
Apon discovering this i remembered i had a 207 block sitting in the granny flat that was given to me as payment for helping out at a honda performance workshop [dont know why he had it but score ]
so i pulled it out and set it up on the stand ready to assemble, when... i noticed cylinders # 2 and #4 had water damage on the bores, GREAT!
so took it to my machinist and we went about seeing if we could hone it out. No good
time to bore it out and put replacement sleeves in it!

while i was getting the block sleeved i thought now was a good time to build the bottom end, so i went a sourced some wiseco pistons, eagle rods and threw some acl race big and main bearings into it, and some arp customer age 625+ head studs
and started assembling the motor
i then came across some top feed fuel rails that were made for the early phase 1 style manifolds.
so i snapped them up and joined them with a set of injector dynamics 1000cc injectors and went about plumbing up a parallel rail setup with earls fittings and black braided hose in preperation for future plans of running flex fuel
once the motor was back in the car i needed and ecu that was tunable.
enter the Haltech platinum sports coupled with 3 bar map sensor.
so off to Vince Rigolie and the boys at team Karam Racing the car went for its mafless tune. bye bye shitty air flow meter
car made 218kws at the wheels on 19psi on a conservative tune. we found that the exhaust turbine housing on the atp/Garrett gtx3076r turbo is quite restrictive as well as the 1996 version 2 sti heads so they didnt want to push it too much more on 98.
if all goes to plan the car should be back on their dyno in a matter of weeks for a flex fuel tune while i save up for the next part of the build that is planned for late 2016
