What sort of Subaru/engine??

After a drive, does the engine have the same power as before?

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

An EJ25, yeah it feels really smooth to drive. no loss of power. im thinking it might just be the sound of the valves. Cant be sure though..

So a GenIII?

If it's a light 'clacking' sound that is slower than the crank speed, it may just be the hydraulic lifters need to bleed out some air.
This should take care of itself.

If the belt drives the oil pump (I cant remember but I think it does) there may be a slim chance the oil seal is allowing air to enter the oiling system causing the lifters to get noisy.
