The only reason you would want SPL is if you were looking to go deaf quickly perhaps if your wife was annoying you, but other than that I don't see the point. I'm not that knowledgeable on audio, only have a basic understanding but I managed to put a pretty good system together. Although I do need a tuned sub box, which are pretty expensive unless you know where to get one on the cheap! All I know is when I get more cash I'll be upgrading to a higher model of focals, they don't even compare to brand new speakers in brand new cars on the market. Just amazing.

That's pretty brave saying I have a good taste in music not knowing what I listen to haha, dem focals play da wobblez of my dubstep tunes hella nicely aye

If you like i'll measure my sub box and give you the dimensions... this  box and ZR musicmax (which i got 4 $55 at Bunbury Cash Generator) is an amazing combo...  i've had all sorts of subs in that box and it makes everything sound good... the only sub i have had that i reckon was better was 2 image dynamic 12" in a sealed box... it was deep and musical... so is this ZR... the box is made of 32mm marine ply and lined in velvet with tontine pillow fabric in the back... its a beast! but amazing! and not too big too... which is important for me with my camera gear...

haha edited! to what i meant to say! lol :P

dubstep isnt music! so that doesnt count anyway!!!

Lolol, got you on that one. I listen to EDM, trance mainly with allot of vocals.

Even with those measurements, I wouldn't be competent enough to make it myself haha.

My current one is just a small carpeted box with about 1cm thick ply.

Champ! That's definitely something to do on my to do list, that and a grill for the sub which allows for more excursion. It hits the grill on 'punchy' bass songs on max bass setting.

You could always space the grille out so it doesn't touch.

They way it is screwed into the box it could be quite annoying, I'll have a crack when I get a chance... More importantly

Coilovers and rear sway bar arrived this morning !!! They will be going in a soon as I get home. Pics to come.

For the money, this is probably one the better setups you can get especially with the PDX-V9s being 40% off when I bought it. That's if you like the sound of the focals. The Type R is more than enough, could go with a cheaper sub in a better box. I only have a crappy pre fab.

The Alpine gear is nice, I thought about the PDX, but I already run a JL Audio HD900/5 connected to Precision Power 6.5 splits (stupidly large crossover) and 2 X JL Audio 12W0 Sub. It sounds clean, but definitely wouldn't mind better, thinking of upgrading the sub, and change the H/unit to an Alpine.

Might have to get you too test out my stuff. It needs a tune, I think.

So I spent the whole afternoon installing a rear sway bar and attempting to install my coilovers..

I couldn't get any of the bolts undone, I soaked them in CRC for a couple of hours and still no luck and managed to slightly round one of them.. :'(

Use a good quality 6 point socket & breaker bar, I had to use an 3 foot extension on the breaker bar to undo the rear lower shocker bolts, they are tight as hell. 120 ft pound from memory.

Your plans sounds sweet mate. I look forward to your progress! I managed to stretch and fracture my socket on the lower shock bolt when swapping over to the Bilstiens. Ended up having to drill/split the nut to release the tension to get it off!

They are seriously maaassiive crossovers! I didn't know you had the precisions. The tweeters are ridiculously large as well.

Where did you find replacement bolts? Seriously tempted just to whip out the angle grinder.

I have like a 3 ft long breaker bar but it's impossible to get leverage due to the awkward position.
