I just got a air compressor and an impact wrench. Took 2 seconds!
That approach did also cross my mind, but my compressor is @ my parents house @ the moment.

I'm gonna have another crack after dinner. These bolts are unbelievably stubborn!
If I can't do it I might just take it to a mechanic and get them to crack them?

Do you have a piping of some kind? Should help give some leverage too.
I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

I have had success by slipping the handle of a trolley jack over the spanner!

None came with your Coilovers?

No?

No?
Guessing it depends on brand... My replacement KYB shocks all came with new bolts and nuts as well. Same with my Dad, when he got new Monroe GT's.

I used to have a car that looked like yours.......
Don't go too low with the V1's at first and check the pre load on the springs. BC claim it has been set but mine were loose...
Those rims look like they will scrub like a mofo!
Enjoy!

Awesome car Owen and I glad to see some pics and those wheels look really good on it and once you get those coilovers in and some guard rolling and alittle low it should be great
Possible mod 1: New grill me thinks!

Mine were all tight, what is the correct amount of preload? I accidently spun mine a bit trying to raise my car.
After many hours of trying to install my coilovers they are in. Went for a test drive only to discover they scrubbed SO much even on 25/30 dampning, shredded the sidewall of the tire getting back into my driveway Now I have to raise it 5 cm's and it's taking bloody forever with the wrenches, might just undo the strut bolt for the next one. But damn did it look good..

Hey mate car looks good.
Did you try setting the damper settings to a harder setting to see if it would stop scrubbing?

Didn't even bother as it was scrubbing driving down a straight not even very bumpy road.. Couldn't even get finger in between tire and guard haha.
Plan to raise it 5cm until I get my guards rolled + camber bushings.
Oh and I noticed with one of the coilovers had like a sloshing liquid noise when I turned it upside-down, kind of like a close to full drink bottle when you slowly rotate it. This something to worry about?

Ah ok, once you get the guards rolled it should be all sweet.
My fronts haven't been rolled and they only rub the guard liner if I have it too soft and go into a corner too hard.

Could of been cous the alignment is/was way off too.
2002 Outback - it's gone...

How would this be a problem? No idea how that would affect the rear scrubbing.
Posted 06 June 2013 - 12:05 AM
Here is how it's sitting currently, no scrubbing at the front or rear. Have to wait till I can roll my rear guards and get some whiteline camber bolts.
Is there any use to getting a wheel alignment now then lowering it 2 weeks later, will the lowering throw the wheel alignment off?
Posted 06 June 2013 - 01:09 AM
Just wait until you lower it to get an alignment.
When I put mine in I drove around for 4 weeks with it pretty low then lifted it back up a bit and got an alignment.
