This is the oil filter I put in last time i did the oil change has anybody else used it, if so what was your thoughts on it?

I got it for free of someone a year a go to try, i installed it at the start of the year when i did the oil change so its got about 6500KMS on it and no troubles

I noticed on cold start ups my old EJ22 didn't knock with this oil filter and 10W30 oil

or maybe it was just the thinner oil making cold startups less noisy.

Also while i'm on the subject of oil filters has anybody heard this noise from an oil filter before, it was about a year old with 4000KMS on it 15W40 oil (it was a max branded filter)

I just stick to Ryco... or the luxury of genuine if the opportunity arises. Same thing though lol.

Since i've had the car I only had a max filter (the one that broke on me) and the HKS one, so the HKS one wins in my book

Ill either try genuine or Ryco next time just to see how it goes, especially since its a  EJ22 with over 200,000 KMS on it, I want to try and keep the oil nicely filtered to prolong engine life.

Go genuine. Seriously what's an extra $10 every 6 months?

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

So the overall consensus is that a genuine oil filter is the best?

I reckon genuine is always better. 100%. If you get your services done at ICHIban, Ben adds the genuine Subaru oil filter free of charge. Win win. ;)

I just use ryco. Or genuine. Whatever is closer at the time.

200 000ks is nothing for an ej22

I buy a few in advance so whenever it comes time to change I have everything ready. But I use genuine also.
