Mad install!
Also can't get over how much of a difference the HANS device makes.

Cheers bro....pretty stealthy still and take 2 mins to install now...just whip the seat cover off, thread the shoulder straps thought the seat and clip the harness in...hey presto and youre done

And yes..up until that video i was like "nah its a waste..i dont need it"...then i watched and went "fark that shite....that looked painful!" Hahaha and didnt even question the purchase from then on

Awesome. Looking forward to some hill climb footage. :)

Yep im so looking forwars to some hillclimb fun! Just need to get my club membership sorted (in the process ;)

Becuase racecat. Love it

Cheers bru. ...should help keep me in the seat a hell of a lot better....and protect me from long term damage should the worst happen....i need some gloves now and a balaclava to keep the helmet free of stanky sweat lol

Needs more vids of 9k limiter bash :D

Nope...not gonna happen lol

"Old girl" lol!

Looking good mate.

I've noticed your little shift sequence chrome badge doesn't fit your setup anymore, you should give it to me :D

Cool race gear too!

Cheers

So....

Some more progress the past few days, with some amazing "can't say no" bargains...and just some good ol DIY :)

First things first...as per CAMS vehicle requirements i needed a secondary bonnet restraint

Now the "official" rules state that as of 2012 the oem 2 catch latches on our cars are considered to have a secondary restraint

BUT!

Talking to some of the guys from the MG Car Club of Newcastle where ill be racing, some scrutineers get a bit narky about the need for an actual strap. And rather then tempt fate and get into an argument with a scrutineer i thought id just make one lol

Used some catenary wire crimped at each end and coated in heatshrink, 2 x hook clamps and two little eye coach bolts trimmed and hand threaded to suit the OEM bolt holes for the latch on the radiator support and in the bonnet

After a bit of umming and ahhing and trial and error it came up great guns, allows me to open the bonnet approx 1 foot before it needs to be unclipped

20150826_160920_1.jpg
20150826_161017.jpg
20150826_161057_1.jpg

Thats one off the list

Next up i got an offer on a deal i coul not knock back....i wanted a deeper dish steering wheel to put on for events as the OEM wheel is just a touch too far away with the harness holding me back

Enter the OMP wrc semi dish wheel in sexy suede

20150824_142444.jpg

Such a good wheel...has 70mm dish which is 20mm more than my Nardi and is perfect...and super grippy! And beauty of the RS is i need no extra boss to fit it :D

20150824_142454.jpg
20150824_142514.jpg

As said this will only go on for events...and only cost me less then a third of the rrp when i packaged it up with some gloves and some cheap karting boots

The gloves are some awesome Sparco jobbies and fit....like a glove lol

20150824_142932.jpg
20150827_173057.jpg

These ended up less then half price in the package ;)
And the boots ended up at only $50!! The reason i needed racing boots is my foot is huge... .size 14...so my shoes are typically skate shoes and are way to clumsy for heel toes and fast footwork

The boots slimmed my foot down an inch across compared to the skate shoes lol....they are skin tight and the only difference between expensive sparco shoes and these is the material is a suede not smooth leather and they arent FIA approved which i dont need anyways..(got fire retardant nonex socks for under them anyways)....but other then that they are exactly the same shape and feel ;) oh and the shop kept stock of sizes up to 18...where as race shoes only went to 12 in store

Karting boots with freebie sparco nomex socks!
20150827_173223.jpg

All up the wheel, gloves and shoes cost me the RRP of the OMP wheel lol

Next up...

Years and years ago Aek put up a group buy for some sweet ass Ecliptech shift lights

It never eventuated lol

So i got one myself :) wow...a quality bit of gear and works exactly as described

Rather than a big flash in the eyes it gives you some indication of your rev position in your peripheral vision...and after a test it works really well!

I currently have it set to bring the first light up at 4000rpm...and flash all the lights at 6200rpm as thats my peak power point

All the lights in between come up at even points between those two numbers

Also for those thinking this would get annoying on the street...with the push of a button i can turn it off until i need it ;)

Had to trim up the cluster trim surround to fit it properly..but it came up pretty well after all that and a bit of jb weld to mount the sucker good and proper

20150827_113418.jpg
20150827_113449.jpg
20150827_120653.jpg

And now its attached to the trim panel i needed a way to be able to remove the trim without it being permanently attached to the rear of the cluster where i wired it up to...so i got a 3 pin connector and wired it in (in red tape)

20150827_113502.jpg

Works a treat and fits in nicely in amongst the cluster and boost gauge

Bright and flashy!

My view

More to come soon ;)

One more thing...lol

I have now joined the MG Car Club of Newcastle, and have applied for and paid for my LS2 CAMS licence ;)

I will hopefully have my first event around the 22nd of September at Ringwood Park Hillclimb up Newcastle/Raymond Terrace area

Now another thing to sort out as part of all this is to pick a number to register under my name

Theres numbers from 1 to 1000 to pick from...but seeing as theres like 400 people already registered all the good numbers are taken :(

Except for one!!! Can you guess which 3 digit number i picked? (Not the people ive already told lol)

It ties in well with the whole build (wink wink)

More tomorrow when i play with the numbers install and race stickers
