The Years that i have run the Xmas BBQ here i just get $5 to cover the cost of food from those attending.. actually i think it was only $2 last time

I Don't know about a fee based Membership...
We are more of a social club than anything.. and i think that is what makes SC stand apart.. we are not a bunch of wankers beating on about our cars and how much faster mine is than yours.

Track days are good.. but i bet most of us are members of other clubs that cater to this..

Hate to sound like a downer but i think keep it as it is..

Look at how well Hunter turned out.. and not one cent was taken from members to accomplish this.
Those who organised it did it all free.. those who attended paid their way.

if you want to hire out a track.. we make a gathering/event thread.. those who are in pay the event organizer for the state and the state rep sorts the rest.

Has been working fine for a few years now..

Not trying to sound rude.. but why is it always the new members that join then want us to make membership paid?

Are we lacking something?

Is there something the club is missing that makes you want to pay for it as soon as you join?
I just want to know what we're missing?

+1.

There is nothing wrong with things staying the way they are now. Keeping things free and after everything that has been achieved already speaks for us alone, even when 'competing' with the other clubs out there. If there is an event that someone has organised, it all runs smoothly and everyone has a great time. The Hunter Valley Cruises, MDSC and monthly meets attract awesome numbers. Meets organised weekly by the Melbourne crew run successfully. Whether or not an administrator attends an event has no direct negative impact on those numbers either. We're unique and should remain that way. From what I know, SubyClub isn't in any sort of debt or behind on any payments, so having constant money coming in isn't necessary. If it ever was to get to that stage, there are many members here who are kind enough to give a few dollars to help the cause.

Change isn't always good.

Although I haven't done so yet, I myself would like to organise a meet or BBQ day. Like you have done CodeBurn3r (for the life of me I cannot remember your name), I would try and get definite numbers, add up all the costs and ask for a few bucks to help out. I don't think that I need to ask for permission from the administrators (if I do then please let me know), so what's stopping anyone else from doing the same thing? The point I'm trying to make is that you don't have to enforce anything on members in order to make something work. SubyClub is working.

It looks to me that people just want to help grow the club and that is completely fine. Ideas and suggestions should never be ignored. Having paid membership may give single members perks and possibly hold 'higher status' on the forum, but after my experiences in owning forums, it's not always the right way to go.

Having said all this though, I believe that the idea was to include paid membership as well as having things the way they are now. Not the fact of enforcing paid membership.

Apologies for the lengthy post. As much as I endorse suggestions and people to never feel embarrassed to speak their minds, I kinda just had a brain fart with all this, ha ha. Why fix what ain't broke?

Cant argue that. The main reason i brought this up was so that our administrators dont go out of hand.

And that's fine man. I've suggested a few things myself in the past and they've been declined although I've been given specific reasoning for it. It just makes things easier to understand then.

The main thing to take from this topic is not to give up with the suggestions, and don't feel like anyone is against you or anything as that's not the intention for most of us. There is always ways of improving something, but it seems like at this stage, SubyClub is beyond expectation. It's meeting all of our needs at the moment and everyone is happy. :)

Yea thats if this has proved anything it is that people are quite happy with how it is. Im happy if everyone else is happy. I dont feel like anyone is against me and thats why i am already loving this forum because of that welcoming feeling and positive attitude that is on here.

Id love to get some more people in my area involved though because theres a HEAP of subys around. Though i doubt all that many would want to join. But we shall see.

What area are you from if you don't mind me asking? Buy a SubyClub sticker and slap it somewhere on your car. I'm sure if people are keen they'll join up. You get a sticker, the potential of more members joining up is increased and the proceeds go towards supporting the forum. Win-win situation. ;)

It's good to see you having a positive attitude about all of this though. It really is the best enthusiast forum I've ever been a part of.

Nice. Most people tend to put it on their rear windows, but someone is always trying to be unique. I've got mine on there, with the ICHIban one towards the top left hand corner. I received a club.liberty one too but have no idea where I'm gonna put it. I'm usually not a fan of putting stickers all over my car, and honestly this is the first time I have ever done so. I will be stopping at three though.

More than enough.
