Hey guys, just wanting to get your opinion on x-force mufflers.
Are they any good for the price, or am I better off going to something like magnaflow?

Cheers

Really depends on what sounds good to you. Some people like that raw raspy sound, some people like a deeper burble. Get on youtube, It's about the closest your going to get to finding something you like. Price is also a factor. I've had an X-force and a Magnaflow. Both were okay, but my current Corozon S304 sounds WAAAY better than both of them. Especially with UEL headers. But is 2-3 times the price.

Would help if you told us what car, what engine etc you have..

I have a 2001 Subaru outback (BH) completely stock exhaust (and engine for that matter), just after a deeper note with a hint of the 'Boxer Gurgle'

Haha. Sedan.

UEL's are the same, doesn't matter.

The wagon mufflers are a little longer, but it's not hard to fix that.

From what I have read, to get the true Boxer sound you need UEL's right?

Just to add, I have been eye-ing off this muffler as a starting point. Quite cheap so if I didn't like it its not a huge loss

You'd have to get an exhaust tip welded on, plus the piping and hangers needed.

Also, for an NA, you preferably need a 2" or 2.25". 2.5" and above starts going in to Turbo territory.

Isn't the stock piping on the liberty/outback 2.5" though? or is that just the tip?

Thanks Aek, will have a read

I've always heard good things about Xforce mufflers and exhaust bits. I will be buying some bits and pieces from them for my exhaust system as well if that matters as an opinion.

Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

Can you hook a brother up? Please contact me now. I have cash ready.

Oh ok, thanks for the clarification, might go 2.25". Much difference between 2.25" and 2"?

.25 of an inch.

Jk's. If you can stretch the budget (and find one), get yourself a Fujitsubo oval muffler.

I had one on my old Legacy GT-B and it was the best muffler i have ever had on a Subaru.

I've had an X-Force on my conversion which i thought was too bassy without much tone, chinese generic cans which gave a warm tone and nothing special, PhatGT quads on my Liberty GT-B which were modified Hurricane cans which were very raspy and cackley, i've had a weird and massive Megaduck  (dont ask, its what was stamped into it) which was very quiet with a full system but high flowing.

If i had to choose, the Fujitsubo would win hands down.

Was waiting for the smart arse comment haha.
Yeah, but is fairly non existent at the moment, have to get head gaskets done soonish (passenger side is leaking).
Was more just sort of out to see what I could do to get the sound I want without blowing $500-1000 on an exhaust (keep in mind I want sound not performance)

Thanks, nice to know someone else is happy to try it :)

To save some cash, get mild steel. If you found a muffler second hand, you can get away a catback knocked up for less than $500 including the price of a second hand muffler ($100-$200). I have always had mild steel, and to the naysayers who say it doesn't last as long as stainless or it's shite, you wont own the car long enough, plus i reckon mild steel sounds better.
