I paid $6k for a 2013 model with 2km on the clock.

Included 6 months rego too.

Damn... so much cheap... well, will try to save up 6k, then look around to see what I can find and get... but it is a good looking bike for sure...

Remember you've got ~$500 of gear to buy...jacket, helmet, gloves...

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

Thats true too... which is why I'm planning for a 6k budget, for the bike, gear and rego

Hyosung GT250R with EFI - the EFI ones were actually good bikes, had way less problems than the carb ones. Good price too.

Honda CBR250RR - 'super sport' LAMS bike. A bit older, but still a good bike.

Honda CBR250R with ABS. Good bikes, ASB is a good thing to have too.

Yup, was looking at the Hoysung and the CBR, but thought 250s weren't thats good? I don't mind if it is a little underpowered, but not stupidly, like the 125s would be...

That being said, I have tried out my sister's 50cc dirtbike, and it was ok... nothing to scoff at... I do like the looks of the Hoysung though... but like you said, it depends on how the ride feels.. :)

Hyo's do look good.

250cc's are okay for a first bike but I wanted something bigger.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

Just checked out the ads themselves... the Hoysung looks like it has a very nice riding position from the last image of the guy on it, but gotta see what it is like for me...

The CBR is very nice too... I like the look of it a lot, and those Oggy knobs are good too... for stationary or low speed drops...

So I guess with a 6k budget, 5k for just the bike, I should be ok?

Well, thats what it will be... a first bike..

And if I want something bigger, I'll get something else..

Does engine cc determine how much the rego is?

Should be more than enough.

Just do your 2 riding days and see how it feels on the bike.

If you're a spaz at keeping balancing it might be best to stay on/in 4 wheels.

Haha... thanks man... I should be fine... having ridden a dirt bike a few times... the gear sequence kinda screwed me up the first few times... but meh... I'll learn... lol

But yeah, will see how I feel about bikes as a whole on the 2 riding days... :)

For 13$k on road it's a bloody cheap fast bike. Early reviews have been good.

I have my full lic but have only ridden on the street a couple of times. I use to ride a 2009 KTM 300exc. Such an awesome bike. So much power but so easy to ride! I sold it to buy the STI...

I wouldn't mind a nice street bike. Something like a GSXR600 or 848 Ducati, a bit lighter and easier to throw around. Really have a soft spot for the 1199 though. That thing it pure perfection!!!

It's hard enough behaving myself in the rexy, let alone something with 5 times the power to weight and only two tyres on the rd!!! I'd just be silly!

The 1199 is an amazing bike for sure.

I have to say though, ducati is a bit like ferarri these days. They made an "affordable" range of bikes and they've lost their premium name a bit.

The 1199 pana is like the 458 though, still amazingness.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

I would probably budget a little more for these items. Don't skimp on your safety.

my daily is a postie:/ nothing special but goes a-b on $5 afortnight

Have you put any more thought into squeezing some more power out of the engine. Like strapping on one of those intake fans

I'll be getting a Hyosung GT650R EFI when I have the money,

I was going to go with a Honda VTR250 beacause my mate had one and it was fun to ride and sounded awesome with a pipe

but after riding Dads CBR1100 Blackbird I just wanted more power haha.

The Hyosungs tend to have electrical problems but my bike mechanic said its a cheap fix and after that they are as reliable as the big brands.

When I get my fulls I want one of these

My dream bike is a Honda VTR1000 SP1 with a set of Yoshimura RS-3 pipes.

AMS told me they are called 'Cafe Racer' bikes.

Cheers,
