So when's the 3 inch lift coming? :P

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Get a Kido tune, makes the car so much better to drive and abit better fuel economy.
Wife's car has the same 3.0L/5EAT.

2002 Outback - it's gone...

Thanks gents. Just working on the aesthetics to start off with and then start getting this thing ready for the bush :)

So when's the 3 inch lift coming? :P

Probably about 6-12 months.

All the offroad gear will be going on in one shot. Springs, shocks, all-terrains, bullbar, driving lights, underbody protection, lifting blocks to name a few.

I've crunched the numbers, and its gonna cost a fair bit, hence the timeframe.

Really great looking car, man! Looking forward to seeing it in person - you going to the meet next week?

Thanks Morgs,

Unfortunately not. Got other plans before becoming but will get myself to Hooters next month.

Yes that's certainly on the cards for the future as well. Been reading up on it over at ASN and definitely on the to-do list.

Yup the engine is similar but different. Similar low-down torque but a notable increase in top end grunt. They've refined it - the old one had its power come on in such a big lump, it almost felt like a small turbo kicking in. The 3.0R feels much more linear in comparison.

Coin holder I got off JapanParts.com though they do pop up on ASN from time to time. Dual console was off GumTree I snapped up quick, but there's one on eBay at the moment if you're interested...

That is possibly my favourite colour for a Gen IV. Well done on the purchase mate! The thing looks clean as man, I'm jealous. And with such low k's on the clock you've definitely got a keeper. It'll keep that smile on your face each time you drive it.

I'm keen to see where you take this and can't wait to see the rest of the modifications make their way onto the car.

Hi mate,

She's a sweet ride,
Also well worth a few bucks investing in a TActrix and getting a tune from Matt (Throttlehappy)
He's one bloke that knows how to get the H6 on song easily and safely.
Fuel consumption comes down heaps, and drivability increases so much. Plus better shifts from the 5EAT.

I've actually got my 3RB wagon which is about to undergo a bit of an overhaul with Outback rims and tyres and adding some lift on top of the TB STi Bilsteins

PM on it's way too

Thanks Rob, I'm loving it so far :)

I got my Outback street tuned by Matt a couple weeks ago. What can I say? Worth every cent. He's made a substantial increase in drive-ability. Dollar for dollar, the best mod one could do to their 3.0R.

He's given me more power down-low so it feels quicker off the mark in stop-start city traffic. The mid-range torque means I've got more in-gear acceleration and it doesn't always have to downshift to overtake. The gear-changes feel much more positive and sharp. Hard to articulate but its an improvement. And i just love that mid-range torque, it suits my driving style to a tee.

Intelligent mode feels oddly like a CVT in that its always around the same engine speed but delivers good power and helps achieve the lower fuel consumption. Sports mode is an absolute gem. it has telepathic powers and knows exactly when I want it to change gear. Haven't used S# much but its still mental haha.

Rob I look forward to seeing your Lib on Outback tyres. Interesting change, I can't think of anyone else that has done that.

Ahh, nice.

There's been lots of good and bad feedback about some of Matt's tunes,
But He's owned his own H6 and has had it on hand to do development on to know what works and what doesn't without needing customers as guinea pigs.
Even his Rev1 he emailed me without any logging done is 95% perfect (just a tiny bit down on timing for extra safety) and should have been loaded in at the factory.

Yeah, will be interesting progression from here.
I love the way it handles on the TB STi suspension but the low profile rubber makes gravel harsh, and i could do with another 10mm lift in the suspension.
So i figure some tyres with more sidewall and some Subtle Spacers should give the lift and comfort I need, without compromising on the handling and towing abilities

Quite a good wrap you've both given. I've been considering getting mine tuned at Pulse Racing in Menai or even at MSR if I am keen for the drive.

Vote one for Matt's tune. It transformed my 3.0R-B. I can't wait to get Matt to work his magic on my Outback.

UPDATE -- So I had a small bingle a couple months ago. My damn fault. Anyway it was minor damage to the bumper, a scratch to the grill and a crease to the bonnet. Got it all done on insurance so the front end is shiny and looking good.

I also got myself a replacement mesh style grill, just for a bit of a change:

xhki.jpg

I reckon its a little on the showy side but I do like it overall. Much sportier than the standard Outback grill...

I also got a set of Valenti style LED tail lights. I think they look fairly smart, they've got a dark tint to them and blend in nicely with the rest of the dark colour of the car.

Tails look great. I reckon the grill needs some black paint though
