The only thing that comes to mind is that the knock sensor is detecting knock and pulling timing and causing the ecu to limit boost - A sort of limp mode. That's why after an ecu reset it forgets, boosts fine until the knock is detected again.

Probably best to get it to a dyno where they can put it under load and see what's happening.

Isn't limp mode 5-6psi?

No idea what 0psi would be like.. or what would cause that... does the car go above 3000rpm still?

did you check for codes?

Have you put any more thought into squeezing some more power out of the engine. Like strapping on one of those intake fans

Ahhh the mysteries of the TT setup.... single turbo guys don't get to experience this sort of magic... I pity them...

Double and triple check all your vac lines are in place, if it was electrical it should certainly throw a code at you.. but that's bizarre as you have reset the ECU and it's run okay. Im with Tim on this one, knock sensor error doesn't necessarily show up all the time but it should give you some boost. As for no boost at all .... buy a TT they said, it'll be fun they said!

Secondary BPV Jammed Open
Intercooler Valve Jammed Open
Exhaust Control Valve Jammed open.

As above with checking and cleaning all the vac lines

^ add to that:

Wastegate Jammed Open.

Yes, very worthwhile checking all these mechanical systems as part of your troubleshooting.

He has a code P0173.

Common Problems That Trigger the P0173 Code

  • Intake Manifold vacuum leaks
  • Defective Mass Air Flow Sensor
  • Defective Mass Air Flow Sensor wiring or connections

Common Misdiagnoses

  • Oxygen Sensor is replaced when the real problem is a vacuum leak
  • Oxygen Sensor is replaced when the real problem is a defective Mass Air Flow Sensor

Convert to single ...Problem solved!

Advice like this is starting to get pretty tiring.

As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

"My eye is watering, this might be a bit hot"

I should just convert to single, right?

Sounds like a MAF sensor then?

Got any spares in your pile Boss?

I'll be at ichiban tomorrow and can ask about it, if needed

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Start small.

Check, clean or replace MAF.

Inspect vacuum lines for cracks or splits & also connection.

Then move on to all the wastegates/valves & solenoids.
