Fungry's B4
Fungry 02 Jun 2014
Hey Guys,
So I've had my B4 for about a year now and brought her fully stock with many plans for upgrades. The journey has had its up and downs and at times Ive almost given up on the car all together.
Through out last year I was saving money and buying parts with the plan to upgrade my car in one go. I managed to to pickup some spec B wheels for $100 and a secondhand cat back exhaust from eBay for $350. After reading some threads I decided to order a whiteline rear sway bar and use my tax return to buy some coilovers. Not long after I picked my sway bar I had to take a trip to Canberra from where I was staying in NSW to pickup my brother from the airport. During this trip the timing belt tensioner decided to break resulting in me needing to tow my car back to Melbourne to have the engine replaced under warranty. The dealer would pay for labor but I had to source a new engine. It was during this period that I was close to selling the car and was prepared to cut my losses. After a lot of phone calls I managed to source an imported engine for a good price. One month and an angry boss later I was back on the road.
A couple of months later I had my coil overs and tires sorted, a day was organized and the build began

We have a decent amount of TT aficionados here.
Don't hesitate to seek advice if/when the time comes.

Finding spec B wheels for $100 is a steal. Looks awesome with the coils in. How do you like the ride?

Thanks guys.
Absolutely loving the new setup. Took it for a run around Mt Dandenong on the weekend and it felt like a totally different car coming in and out of corners. Driving around town isn't to bad either. Ive been playing around with the dampening a bit trying to find the best settings for both.
I'll be putting more shots up when I have access to a better camera but for now I have this one from over the weekend:

The build looks great.
I'm lovin the way you used the jack, to get the lower rear strut bolts done.
Wed night meet maybe ????

Haha I was waiting for someone to notice that. Not the funnest experience I've had. It took me an hour and a half to crack the bolts on both sides. Definitely looking at investing in a rattle gun sometime soon.
Wednesday works for me

Bloody awesome so far mate. You've done well with the parts and those rims are freaking awesome! Well done man, can't wait to see what else you do with her. You've got such a clean and spacious garage too.

a BABB* usually does the trick

you need leverage not a rattle gun. longer bar = more leverage will make it easy. either that or a length of pipe around the ratchet.
nice B4

Nice B4 :-) Rims really give it that prestige look imo.

oh --- and watch out using lots of leverage on a ratchet drive like that - you might bust it.
Invest $30 in a BABB.

I broke a ratchet, Kingcrome adapter and a socket trying to get the fronts off. Not much fun at all. Their was a lot of F's and C's flying around that day
I'll definitely be adding a BABB to my tool box soon although it doesn't make the cool noises like the rattle gun does haha.
