Yep, its Official, I bought a Forry

06 XT Luxury

Full BLAAAACK Leather Interior

VERY decent body! i couldn't find any noticeable Carpark Dents at all!

She's being shipped down from Newcastle next week but here are a few photos

On the list to do is New Engine..

has a spun bearing i suspect.. so will pull it down and inspect.. if the block is Ok i'll be rebuilding.

As bad as it sounds it has to be driven to be shipped (otherwise its more than 2x the price to move it) so she will be loaded and unloaded Knocking away like a midget in the back of Ash's Boot

If not its going to be a brand Spankers EJ257 dropped in.

Things on the car currently...

Racing Logic Coilovers

Mishimoto Alloy Rad

4Pot Fronts + DBA Slotted

Some Muffler

Jap Foz Mesh Grill

Things coming with the car.

VF30

2Pot Rears + DBA T2 Rear Rotors

OEM Vented Rear Rotors

Stock Struts and Cut Springs :\

08 STI TMIC

Stock Grill

some other random bits and Bobs

The Bad:

Popped CV

Missing rear headrests - (Why is this so common! - I have seen so many cars advertised missing rear headrests)

Cracked paint on the lower front lip

Dirty stone chip on the drivers A Pillar

She needs a good polish

Worn Carpet on the Drivers Side Sill

Plans:

Remove Coilovers and refit Stock Struts (maybe with Low Springs but nothing too harsh)

Fix CV

Engine as above (no solid plans yet - need to tear it down first and see what im dealing with)

Check Clutch and maaaaaybe replace (was done 20k ago apparently)

Put Rear Hubs on the Lib ;)

Swap 4Pots with the Lib (they are the alloy ones lol)

Get adapters for the 2pots to fit on the Foz later on.

Replace Carpet in car

Find Head Rests :/

Touch-up Stone Chips

Swap grill back

Wheels + Tyres.. I need to check the Profile etc but i might put the Current 225/45/17's from the lib onto it and get new Khumo's for the Lib

I'm going to have to look at wheel options but you all know im an OEM guy so OEM options it will be.. (I saw some decent wheels at IchyBum on Friday -_0

She appears to be excited except for the fact I have already spoken of things I could do to make it "Nicer" Hahaha

I Honestly plan on keeping it as stock as possible, only minor things.

Best part... IT HAS A TOWBAR! so i dont have to fit extra weight to the Lib now...

and it can be my Tow Vehicle to Winton :D so no more worrying about the plod on the way home and no issues if something breaks..

Just gives me more reason to turn the Gen2 into more of a track car ;)

lazy way of getting full fold from rear seats instead of putting the drivers/passenger seat forward you take the rear headrests off and voila flat forester

Alex.. yeah i know, a few cars i have seen say they left the headrests interstate when moving.. its just going to be hard to find those on their own.

Might have to hit the Wreckers for a cloth trim set to pass roady first.

Congrats on the purchase!  Sounds like a good project.

Stock struts are self-levelling so you won’t be able to get lowered spring on them. XS models also have the SL’ers but AFAIK, the X doesn’t. Try grab some of them!

With a regular Subaru badge, that grille would look good! Or spray the stock billet grille bleeeck. I’ve gone from a mesh grille to black billet and I much prefer it now.

Missing head rests is a weird one. I never realised it was a common missing item! You’d have to get XT leather ones too which narrows the search down…

Looking forward to watching this build :)

Thanks for the heads up Morgadore
I'm not too fussed about the Height.. just thought if im getting new springs i might go a tad lower.. ill keep an eye out though..

the good thing is a have a few parts to flog off that can pay for the parts i need so the outlay is the same.. all works well with the finance minister.

The other good thing is this should be able to be completed (inc purch price) for less than the sale price of the old Mazda 6.. so that is even better!

Yeah Bro, having twin I will need to know all big end repairs, lets hope not.

GD wagon gear would be perfect. Even non-turbo stuff. A little bit of low but nothing crazy.

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!! Throw in the greens, green peace, unhcr, save the forking children and I've well and truly hit my limit for the number of fuckstains wanting me to sign something or give money. Seriously cubts,  :fork: right off.

Headrests sometimes need to be taken out to fit some baby seats. Easy to forget where they go after a few years of baby seats.

Congrats on the purchase!

It should be a good project to keep you busy.

PS. Still interested in mesh grill if your selling :)

Yeah, I have to take off headrests to fit my kids seats in. Pain in the butt.
