Guys try and keep it on topic. this is a group buy organised by Ben/Ichiban which he has opened up and invited SC members to be part of.

If you want to discuss other items/mine was cheaper/group buys made by other people then please start a new discussion thread or take it to pm.

Cheers

Aek

Cost price of $280 is pretty steep. Assuming this was for CF? Any idea what fibreglass was?

Can't imagine there'd be more than about $40 of CF in something like that. Maybe another $30 of epoxy.

You could lower that to 1/3 with glass and polyester.. but you're not saving much.  Cost is in the tooling and man hours.

im going to pull the pin on this, obviously everyone else can get one made for nothing  i cant control the cost as we were out sourcing it  and i'm not making a cent on it. if you've actually seen the piece its very hard to replicate as it can only be one layer thick due to where and how it fits.

the people who were genuinely interested can thank the others for the cancellation.

regards, Ben.

Maybe I wasn't clear... I meant couldn't be made cheaper.  A (theoretical) change to glass + poly would only knock $50 off the price.

This stuff is expensive because the tooling (moulds) are expensive to make, the volumes are low, and there's a lot of manual labour involved. Not because of the cost of carbon.

Doubly so if its a nice piece of kit and they're not just knocking the stuff out.
