Hi Guys/Girls,

My AC idler pulley is making a bad noise and needs replacing.

Where is the best place to buy a replacement from? How much am I looking at?

I had a quick look on eBay but there doesn't seem to be much.

It looks a bit like this thing on the right:

Car is a 2001 Subaru Liberty B4.

Cheers.

Tom, just go to Pick a Part and grab one from a Gen1..

Will cost you like $2 and you get a nice metal one instead of the shit plastic ones that later models came with..

I did this for Ash.. and he loves it.

Too late, Ty. Already ordered one. :D

Also, it's not the pulley that failed, it was the bearing. So it didn't matter if it was plastic or not.

(Ahh, I think you're talking about the thing that's snapped in the first photo, I'm talking about the pulley and bearing)

nah i know what you meant.. but the Gen3+ have a plastic pulley
the Gen 1 and 2 have Metal Pulley wheels and as such the bearings last longer (better heat dissipation from the bearing itself).

Mine died last week. Original was plastic, replaced with the NuLine EP136. It is a lot heavier than the plastic one of course, but a nice product. Australian made apparently.

As far as i know the plastic ones have the bearing moulded into the pulley and are not servicable.

I changed over to the earliersteel unit that you can press the bearing out if needed
