Was just bored looking on gumtree tonight and i found this cheap outback...

Clear coat is coming off, its done almost 300,000kms, and only has a month of rego left., Front brake pads are gone, suspension has a few clonks, and i noticed the cam seals were leaking oil. and in general the inside was a bit rough.

Perfect replacement for my shitbox fwd gen1 sedan daily :)

The price we agreed on included a brand new dayco timing belt kit, with water pump. So i'll spend the next few days tidying it up, and once its proven itself i'll sell the gen1 :)

Subyclub project car?

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Nah auto. Nice and relaxing.

Done about 60km in her today and despite the clunks its really nice to drive.

Got under it today and the front lower control arm bushes will need replacing. I have the feeling the pitch stop might need replacing too. And that will be the clunks sorted. Drivers side cv boot has split too

Fuuun.

I've got a pitch mount.

Pretty sure

If I can find it I might come up for a drive this week sometime.

Did my timing belt today.

F3A01507-6AA6-4AB4-A3A5-A452CF024A9F_zps

But then...
8826606C-0CDB-4D57-8849-0BE1BD4CAAF0_zps

Unfortunatly you dont do that unless shits forked, replacement theromostat. I put a new one in, tried bleeding the cooling sysyem but it just kept spiting water back out, too rad hose was crazy hot and the bottom was cold... Took it for a drive and nothing improved. I could just drill a 3mm hole in the thermostat. Which i did when i was on a student budget.

But im going this route
78D4C3B4-B10C-4C43-B347-A056A010CE99_zps

Not what i wanted to do, but i considered this possibility before i bought the rig, and said to myself even if things end up this way it's still an alright deal.

Should be pretty well fixed by the time you're done with it :)
