Yeah, we'll see. I didn't do it on my rs impreza and 1.5yrs later (30,000kms) later it hasn't skipped a beat, i did use OEM Subaru Gaskets but, the car never had a cooling issue, only replaced them due to an external out leak, and had half the km's this engine has

Bit of Aviation Sealant too ;)

Well for me its a lot easier in theory than it is in practice with my limited knowledge haha
Hope it stays leak free for you 👍

Anyway, torqued to spec is just the manuals way of saying 'we couldn't get it any tighter, see if you can'.

I'll take these heads to an engine building shop to get stripped, inspected, repaired if required, and rebuilt.

What an absolute battle this shitbox has been...

Got the heads back and fitted only to discover a blocked heater core and a miss on the motor.

Turns out the valve clearances weren't set. Which was easy to fix just took a few days of diagnosing, which was fun after a few days of swapping everything over.

Heater core replacement was probably the worst job ive ever done on a car.
is it possible to do this job without loosing the a/c refrigerant gas in a gen3 Cause getting mine re gased is next weeks job.

While the dash was out i upgraded the head unit to this alpine unit. Really happy with it.

In-between all that i got new tyres fitted, with goodyears buy3 get 1 free deal. Once i get new control arms off Matt and replace a boot on the steering rack i'll get an alignment.

And then hopefully i can stop working on the shitbox. No more buying broken subarus for me. The amount of money and time ive thrown into this is heartbreaking. But hopefully i'l have a reliable car i can thrash for a few years
