Gentlemen!

I recently rehashed my love of building 1:24 model kits after a hiatus of about 7 years! I'm glad i picked it up again as it's good fun and very challenging. Would love to see if anyone else shares the same hobby so i would like this thread to be active!

Unfortunately, hobby shops are a dying breed and it's difficult to find one. Word of advice, do not go into HobbyCo at Rhodes, pack of useless tossers, straight up, don't waste your money there. I checked out Westside Hobbies & Toys in Blacktown and i would highly recommend them. Service with a smile and knowledge to back it up.

I discovered you really need extreme patience and a steady hand. I had a bunch of Subaru Legacy kits i never finished hiding away at my Dads place and i decided i would give it another go. I had a rare Gen2 GT Hippo Sleek kit and i was so bummed to find when i opened the box, the chassis had been crushed and all the A,B and C pillars were snapped. It was unable to be saved and i couldn't save the unique body kit parts either as i had super-glued them on. I also have a Gen1 RS and a Gen3 GT-B E-Tune2 B-Sport (BBS Wheel Option) kit which both need paint stripping and to be restarted. Too heavy on the spray cans!

The VERY hardest part about these is getting a good finish on the paint. You pretty much have to paint them like you would a real car. For this one, i started with a primer rather than just hitting the plastic with the final colour. Using about 3-4 light mist coats then about 2 heavier coats worked well with both the primer and colour. For my next one, i'm going to try out rubbing back the paint with wet 'n dry in stages, and then use a polish to get a good shine on the colour. Apparently you can use car polish! I'll then use a proper clear coat to finish it and rub that back for super shine. This one i'm showing here is the paint left as-is from it's final coat. The hardest part i found is hand painting the black window moulds.

It's difficult to experiment with them as stripping the paint of them can melt the plastic body and they aren't cheap. Apparently in the model kit world, brake fluid is recommended to strip them.

Here's one i finished this week! Gen3 Subaru Legacy RS30 sedan.

Oh wow!!!

That looks awesome Jimbo.

I had a few models when I was younger, but sadly they are not good for me as I have no patience.

My 2 Chevy wrangler jeans NASCAR's turned out looking worse for wear.

As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

"My eye is watering, this might be a bit hot"

I should just convert to single, right?

I've always been into these, but have never bought one or found just the right car. I must admit I'd be more into buying ready-made die cast models than doing it myself though.

Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

Can you hook a brother up? Please contact me now. I have cash ready.

I've had this little RC car for ages:
GA-WRX_zpsd1c1851f.jpg

iirc, it was an iWaver brand of RC which was a clone of a Kyosho 1/18 scale. Inferior plastics, but cost about $60 instead of $300!
Then I upgraded the motor and it was almost undriveable :)

I'm liking that Gen 2 and the RS30!

I have a GC8 and an EVO 5 rally car which I built years ago, if I remember what box I put them in I'll get a couple of photos.

On a more exciting note, I finally managed to find a Gen 1 Legacy wagon on eBay today. Pretty keen to get it!
