Hi fella's

Put some JDM Bilsteins and Pink's in my 04 GT wagon, she's a bit rougher than i was expecting, but thats just me getting old!

on the last couple o drives, i've been thinking, she has 221k on her, and the Billies have less than 10k on em, are they performing too good for other warn out bushes?

at the same time i put in a whiteline ALK and a rear (front) control arm bush kit.

I'm aiming my suspicion at the front and specifically the rear diff mounts...

am i onto something or what else could i look at?

I think that the JDM billies had different shock valving to the ADM delivered cars, stiffer !

The sti pinks will be a fair bit firmer than your standard setup.

Some people that have been in my car, say it's very harsh & I only have GTB front springs & outback rear springs on my billies + the w/l ALK @ the front.

But it does handle well for an outback,

As per Beckers , Iirc jdm bilsteins have firmer damping.
Maybe give them time to break in :)
Lets see 10K up to 10yo so they must have been sitting around for a while...
Plus the STi pinks are firmer than stock by around 1kg iirc.

Is there any noise like clunks or bangs or movement?

I never hurts to monitor your other bushes so have a peek under the car. Diff bushes, gearbox & engine mounts, sway bar bushes & links.

Yep, JDM billies are indeed valved firmer than AUDM ones. The lower/firmer STi springs adds a little more harshness to the ride.

Just changing my original 112,000km billies to lower km still JDM ones with STi springs has made the car noticeably firmer/harsher.

In a good way Mark? Is it liveable, especially as a daily?

Definitely liveable as a daily. After all it is oem suspension. Just highlights our crap roads.

You've got that right Mark. The roads in NSW are atrocious.

Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

Can you hook a brother up? Please contact me now. I have cash ready.

If you're front lower control arm bushes are shot or you have upgraded to nolathane or similar, you'll get a lot more harshness through the chassis. Might be worth a look?

its definitely more poised than it was before... mainly bangs when hitting say a join in the road where new/old road meets...

the tyres came back with 40 psi in em, i rectified that...

iits very firm, but i'm loving good roads... just not so many of em here...

AMEN! the roads are pretty bad here in WA! some nice new stuff. but not much of that!

Mark, do you think its worth looking at the other bushes?? just OEM stuff... rejuvenate, not performance

Ha! now where have i see that imofrmation before :P

For the record, they were purchased off NiK, who got them from Mark, he could possibly tell you what year they are from...

Always worth a look to see if anything else is worn out or not up to spec.

I'm thinking the diff bushes are knackered for sure...it's far to rough in the back... And as much as I dread it, an engine mount could be shagged too...

I must admit, i do enjoy not having to dodge potholes that would swallow up a small hatchback like i did in Cairns!! wet season and the pot holes came out!!

Never went that far north.

My experience was

NSW = shit roads they spend lots of $ on laying new tarmac over existing holes

QLD = Shit roads they spend lots of $ on putting up signs warning you about the shit roads, falling rocks and staying left or else!!

VIC = Never driven there

SA = That high grip light coloured surface everywhere and so smooth! (until you get into the hills)

WA = Meh, ok i guess.

definitely right about the signage! but some amazing patches of road in the mountains, youtube the Gillies range on a motor bike!

VIC = Never driven there
never driven their either

NT: The best roads in Australia... wide, perfect camber, and made of granite, no potholes! i did 160km/h comfortably for hours in a Corolla on the way over here! That light colored stuff is the same as the roads in SA.

Agree!!

WA = Meh, ok i guess.
meh at best!

just a bit of an update,

everything has softened up considerably, firm still but not the big thuds that shook the dash.
