After seeing Staxtas bare bones yahoo page and after having the mobile version of yahoo japan rustle my jimmies a lot I had an idea to make a JDM Parts Searching app. At the moment is still very early beta/alpha. It can search, display a list of results (limited to 40 for the time being i think) and can then show more information about the item as well as a picture of it. Ive uploaded the current version of the app. Feel free to give it a try, tell me what youd like and most important; try and break it 

 

Eventually Ill be adding images to the list, the url in the item page will be clickable to take you to the auction, translating the Japanese and adding an import monster calculator.

 

You will probably have to enable unsigned apps to install it.

Unfortunately not, yet at least. I dont have one to test and i dont know Objective C lol. Im happy to share the source code if someone would like to port it

I'd say I would give it a go, but it might take way too long for me to ever get around to properly porting it over. It's a good idea and could definitely help people out man. Well done.

Only just getting started haha. As for the other 2 menu options I'm not sure what to do with them. They don't offer a search api like yahoo so it might just be a link to their web pages :/

Ive managed to fix the search options not actually doing anything. Turns out you cant compare strings using "=" in android, have to use something.equals("a string"). Learn by doing right

Added some small stuff and am working on some new functionality. 

Small stuff

• Version number
• added my name to the main menu
• loading icon and hint on the search page to show it hasnt crashed
• a shitty icon
• broke the item images size lol

New stuff

• Import monster estimates
• Only container and pickup working so far. Sorry NSW peeps

That's just java, == compares the references to the objects

Looking good, for most of the viewa you should create a custom listview (your own xml stuff) and it'll look super tidy, especially with images

It's not that straight forward unfortunately. Might try just generating text views and images for each item. It's on my to do list though

Yeah given the language barrier, images are the easiest way to identify parts on japanese sites for me haha
