Nope.

Gotta get a new pump! :P

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Well I thought I was just messing with Adam.. but looking at the parts catalogue, I can't see a seal kit! Genuine new pump is $1400 :(

I know! I priced one when the pump in the RX started playing up.

I ended up flushing it with synthetic oil and it seems to have sorted itself.......for now.

Whoops.

Try for a 96 wrx. I think quite a few pumps are the same from the early days

I'm pretty sure you need the 93-98 kit, Aderm.

from my experience also.. if its not just the top of the tank that is leaking (the gasket for the top of the reservoir) or the connection to the high pressure line is not loose ( just get a 17/19mm open spanner on it) then the shaft has worn (haha) and a new seal kit wont fix it..

A bit late, but you'll find the early pumps are cheaper - only about $1k. A bit less actually, but not by much (unless they've jacked the prices up in the past couple of years). The reason they dont make seal kits is they dont work on the subaru pumps. I had the same issue a few years back. Had a chat to the subaru techs when it happened, and they said the seal kits used to only last a few months, so they stopped putting them in.

Cheers,

Ben

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

If the shaft bushings are restored, I cant see why a pump wont last.

As Ty mentioned, if the shaft and bushes are worn, then a seal won't fix it. As the shaft moves, air passes the seal aerating the fluid causing that groaning noise we all know.

I pulled the pump off a wreck condition unknown, It was a preventative thing. So we will see how we go!
