Well it started life like this, basically as AUDM as it could get + lift
'98 GX 2.0L Manual forester. As boring as it could get.
- 2" body lift
- Raised king Springs
- hella-anti-flush stock 15's
We bought it from family friends and mum was rocking it like this for a couple years.
Being busy horse people, it was filthy, neglected and filled with hay.
I grabbed some JDM tail lights for it while I was in NZ and added a JDM grill shortly after.
Next on the list were some GT wheels to a) clean it up a bit and I needed new tyres.
This just goes to show the extent of the lift!
I was then given it for my 21st to upgrade from the ol' '90 camry.
Before I officially got it, I spent a whole day with my gf cleaning it and installing the stereo.
At her first outing, shame it stayed there as the hydraulic line for the clutch split as I pulled in
And then.... Caponix did this
Once I saw it this way, I new I had to lower and tint it badly.
Now the cosmetic mods started to add up.
- Clear side indicators
- Momo Steering wheel
- Experimented with cheap LED bulbs for the dash
- Removed nudge bar
And then... I bought a bag of bolts.
Over one saturday, GT_Tony and Cruisa (old purple forester) helped me remove the lift kit from the car and install some temporary suspension.
It was very temporary.
I picked up some WRX struts with superlows, got them installed, along with new tint and a muffler.
Dropped it like it was hawt.
Did a measurement of the drop, 6.8" from the previous height! Boy did it handle and look better.
Some more cosmetic mods
- Removed mud flaps as they were scraping on everything.
- Forever black on the bumpers
- More LEDs
- Gear knob
- Leather shift boot
- STI short shifter (courtesy of Cruisa)
- Mini paint detail and wax
I was getting sick of scraping and scrubbing so the springs were swapped out for WRX low. The front only lifted a little but the rear lifted more.
Upgraded to a WRX RSB (19mm compared to stock 11mm) and replaced the rear sway bar links as they were broken.
Got some WRX/RS seats and front strut brace next
Not much has happened since then, it gets filthy very easily. Dirt driveway and these guys have something to do with that
Painted the rear badges black and this is currently how it sits
Except today I got a new left fender which eliminated the antenna and the dint in my old guard.
So it's all clean, no antenna is visible for this car (no glass one for me)
So there we have it, it's been just over a year since I've had it and had great fun learning while doing all these little mods on it.
Next up, new wheels, playing with the suspension and getting it ready for the ozfoz rally in august.
