Not really sure where else to start this thread, but "electrical" will do. If I was to (hypothetical only at this point) do a twin turbo -> single turbo conversion, would I be able to use a wrx or wrx-sti EJ20 single turbo ECU? How difficult would it be to replace said ECU? Would the new ECU need to be completely rewired into the car? Obviously it would need a re-tune after installing, but i'm talking purely about the ECU's ability to do the job needed. Thanks blokes! (and maybe ladies). - Alex.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

In speaking to Al about the same conversion, it was mentioned that using a V7 STI ECU would do the trick with either some repinning or just replacing the B4 loom with the V7 loom.
Piece of the proverbial PI55 mate. No retune needed on the factory ECU, just a reboot.

Correct.
I just can't remember whether the V7 STI came out without AVCS heads. I think AVCS started in V8.
Someone with some more knowledge on that may have the answer. Quick search on Rexnet should provide the answers.

pretty sure the Gen 3 B4 didn't ever have AVCS. It wasnt until the gen 4 B4 & GT Tuned by STI that AVCS was introduced to the legacy/liberty so if you were looking for a ecu i'd be keeping my eye out for V7 (AUDM) or V6 (JDM)

So, I'd need (hypothetically) a V7 STI ecu...not V8? I'm still asking around getting as much info as possible, but that helps - thanks aek + fatcat.

sorry to hijack and im sure this has been covered many a time before but at least on here most actually know what your talking about....can you still use the standard b4 transmission with the say wrx or sti engine, im aware that sti trans would be better anyways but again sort of a hypothetical :) cheers and again sorry for the jack.

As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

I should just convert to single, right?

They are the same as a WRX/STI gearbag anyway just different ratios.

V7 STi all have avcs. V7 WRX JDM have avcs but aus do not. V7 STi does not have tumblers, all WRX have them. JDM V7 STi is the best ecu to get, it has a good tune and no immobiliser or tumblers. AVCS is an issue if you are just converting your B4 engine and not replacing it with a complete STi engine. 01 Forester is also a good choice of ecu as it has no avcs or fuel pump controller(and no imm if jdm).

Nice info, so which ECU would be the choice of someone wanting to just rip off the twins and throw a single at it?

Probably just Aus WRX or 01 GT Foz. You would have to reflash it to forget about the tumblers though. Still requires some rewiring though, you would not get away with just blindly plugging it in and crossing your fingers. I always remove all the unwanted TT wiring pins when doing a conversion as well as checking the pinout of both thoroughly.

u have to transfere one of the 02 sensors on the b4 pinout to suit the bugeye pin
