CAI; wrx fitment on lib

I am planning on going front mount, and from what I understand, I will have to install a CAI. I cant bring myself to spend the 300 bucks for the Hyperflow item which looks like just a piece of aluminium pipe.
I was wondering if any of the wrx model intakes would fit, as ebay is flooded with cheap intake pipes. Has anyone tried these?

as long as the diameter is the same, all you really need is the bit where the AFM connects to.

His work is pretty good for the price

You could probably make it yourself for a few quid. Maybe not quite as dodgy as what some of the NA blokes use but a middle ground would be alright.

I think you're looking for exorbitant, Soop. Though they are usually pretty energetic in their prices as well!
$35 sounds like a good deal though!

That would be the one, I knew that didn't look right
$35 is excellent.
But I've seen some mobs asking upto $500 for what effectively is two bits of 90mm pipe and a bit of silicon hose.

Haha, that is a major rip. The 'designer brands' of the aftermarket world are ridiculous some times.

Im now wondering if it might be possible to retain the factory airbox with a front mount. Im not overly keen on the sound of the pod.

depending on if you go ahead with this, you wont be able to keep standard air box, with abs unit so close only route through is directly where the box is. Even reversing frount mount piping will mean that lower part of bump.b will need to be cut(right near fog lights) and some clever work to bring it in over abs unit to try keep the air box.

that would be great. Post the pictures up when you get a chance. I have seen a few intercooler kits that dont go through the hole in the fender but rather somehow weave up through the middle where the plastic engine cover sits. Will try and find some pics if I can.
