R180 will loose him the 5x100, unless finds one out of an RA, but then its not the diff its the shafts that will break.

im currently RWD running a version 4 STI with PPG spool, and LSD R160 and its holding alright, altho i will need to do diff mounts soon

you could weld the R160 but sooner or later you will shat drive-shafts

Interesting theory. Someone tell Matt then his R180 rear end is 5x114, and not 5x100, therefore he can't run 20psi.

R180 on a Gen3 is quite possible. Some machining is required on the Gen3 hubs to accept the R180 bearings, and therefore the shafts. Diff, although larger in size, will bolt into the same spot, and accept the same tail shaft length if you stay five speed.

Gen3 R180 rear end conversions - I've seen it a couple of times. ;)

Nice work. I like how yor thread mainly talks about what you've DONE, not what you want to wish you could maybe do.

Can I get an AMEN?

The matte bronze works really well with the silver in my opinion and i got these out of the states for this particular colour as i couldnt get them over here in oz. Plus they were cheaper from america with shipping than anywhere over here. But hey, who knows, i'm sure i'll get bored of these soon enough and will probably paint them in an onyx black or something along those lines..

I have to agree. The colour is good. Onyx black would also look tits once you get bored with it.

Rwd will be done with this standard gearbox until blown then replaced with a 5 spd wrx and exedy button clutch to suit and ppg spool, and an sti rear diff that suits r160 ie. V1/2, 3/4, 5/6 rear lsd. Having looked under a few s chassis' i couldnt believe how similar the subframe out of an s14 is to the gen 3 subframe it is quite possibly doable but for the time and effort and the amount of money and fuckss i do not give r160 will be fine :D

Tyre scrub, whats that :P
You cant read what brand and size tyre it is on drivers side rear anymore hahaha..

Cheers,
Zach.

This bloke has converted his B4 to RWD. Even though most of it is in spanglish. You get some idea of how he's done it.

Ohhh noes!!! no wonder my wheels require drilling out every time i need to boost to 20psi?!! :(

Listen to this man as he speaketh the truth...many gen3's have had this done....well worth the effort IMHO

And Zach, you my friend are crazy lol...but i like youre style...keep up the good work, and colour code those door strips ffs lol

Can't complain about a hungee rear LSD, except for the fact that B4 LSDs are viscous, which are epic poos for skids.

Like, wet fart kind of poos.

It'll do for a bit, but scour around for a R160 plated/suretrac centre. This is where it starts to get expensive, because R160 is in higher demand (people CBF going R180)

As for RWD spools - Y U NO WELD ONE UP URSELF? Buy a busted arse box (if you can find one) and get your stick on.

If PPG spools are only a hunge or two, disregard above statement.

Alex thats the plan, to huntdown a suretrac, cusco, etc plated centre.. I can get a spool for $350 so im more inclined on that path rather than welding.. But ben does have a box with a munted viscous sitting in his back shed so i could weld that one and have a rwd spare box :)

Cheers,
Zach.
