Hey guys

Wanting to know what is involved with the removel of a GEN3 Rev A-C Liberty/Outback headlight clear plastic lense. I can see that theres some clips and screws that need to be removed but can also see there is a seal around the backing of the lense too. Any help would be great.

Cheers
Chris

Heat in the oven at ~80 deg for ~5 mins

The glue will soften and you can gently pry them open. There are clips that hold some tabs down and these just have to be flicked over the tab.

Be very careful not to touch the reflectors on the inside as you'll never get human hand grease off!

Yes.. preheat oven to like 200 and place the headlight in for 60-90 secs to soften the glue. or maybe a heat gun could work too. Take it easy and don't melt the plastic.

Then pry the edges with a flat head screwdriver.

It did it with my prelude to paint the inside housing black.

Nah, not 200. Too hot!

Morgs is about right there. Leave them in for a little longer if they aren't coming apart. Be sure to pop them back in the oven when you're putting it back together so that you make the glue sticky again.

What are you pulling them apart for?

Ok lol now ive got the oven heating up. A mate has given me his old set with good lenses. What happens with putting them back on my old ones? Just the reverse of taking them off?

Pulling them apart after try a DIY headlight restoration which failed badly lol

Saves you having to spend money on mine hah.

Yeah, just back to in the oven to glue them back together.

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

I've done it. Do not do it too hot. 80-100 degrees for about 10 mins is a good time.
Any more and it will burn and melt.
