Hi all - just a question regarding the fitment of something like 225s to an 8 or 8 1/2 inch rim. How do these go on a track with high speed high G force cornering? Will they pop the bead (being theres bugga all bead there) or are they ok?

Contempating getting some large rims, but dont want to do it if the skinny tyres are going to be a safety concern later down the track.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it. In process of being stripped and sold off.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon. Scrapped.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. Scrapped.

MY13 BRG, current daily, very nice to drive, small mods to make it even nicer again.

Might be OK but wpuld depend on the profile.

Holden run 235/45-17 on a 8x17 standard and the sidewall is dead vertical.
You don't sound as if you are too far off that.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Drifters originally started running stretch so that there is no sidewall flex before "fitment enthusiasts" decided it looked hot.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

Thats some interesting news. Basically the thought process behind it is I have a Gen 3 with brembos, and want bigger rims. I was always under the impression that 235s dont fit on the gen 3's because of interference with the front struts. But correct me if I'm wrong.
To find rims that fit over brembos without paying a fortune is bloody hard, especially when they need to fit the Gen 3 as well. If anyone can shed some light on this, please do!

Cheers,
Ben

Depends on the offset if they touch/rub the strut.
I've got 235's on a 9.5" rim, but end up with a +23 offset on the front due to spacers and making it.

225's on an 8" or 8.5" isn't a stretch.

2002 Outback - it's gone...

I ran 225's on 18x8's on the track and they were fine. That tyre on that width wasnt exactly stretched either so you'll be fine
