Had a bit of a look through the links posted but i couldnt see much about zorsts

i just want to find out the legal noise level and how its tested, im fairly sure in NSW its 89 or 90dB, the varex pro-mo video on youtube says its tested at 4,500rpm, can anyone confirm this?

@2.30 they mention the limit.

when i went for my engineers certificate he measured it... he just stood behind the car and said hold it at 4k rpm but i actually read a really in depth thing about it where they have to measure it 1m away and like 70cm from the ground and at an angle of 45 degrees to the rear of the car... or something like that it has to be under 90dB stationary and i think, 77dB with a drive by (where they measure full throttle acceleration over a space of 10m and they measure it standing 3m away from the car or something like that... if i find it i'll post it...

116dB??

the phone is wrong...

unless you can't hear anything and windows shatter when you drive around everywhere

91dB is twice as loud as 90dB
92dB is twice as loud as 91dB

etc...

or that's what i've heard anyway...

but either way... i'm pretty sure that standing 10m behind a jumbo jet at takeoff is close to 116dB

An interesting twist to this situation, the changes have been put on hold pending further community and industry discussion.

How is your average cop at the side of the road going to know if anything under the bonnet is going to make a difference in performance. Unless they have some technical knowledge of cars and mods they might as well be looking into a hedge.. Do you think this would pass the db test..
