Hey guys,

I bought a panel air filter that i thought about changing this week and then crossed my mind to change the cabin filter at the same time as well... However, it seems to be difficult locating a cabin filter for a B4, apparently Ryco don't make them anymore? I checked with AutoOne as well as Super cheap Auto but non of them could help me.

Then i called Makin and Luby and they quoted me about $76 which is crazy for a cabin filter but then i guess its just the price for genuine parts.

My question is, where else can i get one from that's a decent price.

P.S. i've also checked eBay but nothing there either besides genuine...

Thanks.

Wow Makin and Luby are usually quite cheap. I paid half that from Subaru in Glen Waverley/Mulgrave, but that was about 4 years ago.

As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

"My eye is watering, this might be a bit hot"

I should just convert to single, right?

Pfft to Repco, Supershitauto, etc etc.

Need to find a specialised filter shop, they'll have them.

Not sure around about any in Victoria, but I use these guys for tricky filters:

Mine was almost blocked when I first bought the car.

Pulled it out and washed it. That was in 2009 and no probs since.

Total cost, $0.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Even from back in the early days, Jason can be seen on the right with the cap on, putting his mothertruckin' hands in the air, and waving them around like he just don't care

because he just saved money washing disposable filters.

Everyone else in his town were as equally as impressed with his skills.

Hahaha Alex.

Be gentle when you wash it, as Alex mentioned they are disposeable and will fall to bits if you are not careful.

How did you know this had to be replaced or cleaned?
How do you remove to replace or clean?
I'm assuming I'll have one identical on my GEN3 Liberty?

Behind glove box.

I did mine because I figured the dealer would never have done it.
Turns out I was right.

When your cabin starts smelling a bit dank and old like a retirement village, then you should change it. It's a serviceable item which gets quite overlooked often because it's a right royal see-you-next-Tuesday of a job. For peace of mind, just spend the money on a new one, probably only have to replace it the once in the time you own the car. Later Gen3's got the cabin filter, rev D-E if I recall.

The XR5 I sold recently required the cabin filter be done every 20,000km's or once yearly. I had just over 30,000 on it and wondered what the fork the stank was in the cabin. Pulled out the cabin filter, gave it a sniff and nearly passed out. Replaced that punk-ass filter and the cabin was back to smellin' phresh.

For peace of mind, just do it.

This has reminded me to get mine looked at. I'm sure I am due for a replacement. Cabin filter and air filter.

Thanks Jimbo.

Seriously, the things you learn.
I would never have known. I would have never been told at a service either.
It's frustrating when you want to keep your car in top condition and service or repair items but you don't even know that they need to be in the first place.

For first timers....

I suggest you have a quick look at the workshop manual on how to remove the filter cover.
The tabs snap quite easy. Dont force the cover off. Get a vacuum to suck all the leaves and shit out of the filter
Cavity.

Yes, I've snapped my tabs before.

If you do decide not to be a povo "see-you-next-Tuesday" and buy a new cabin filter that's aftermarket, they usually come with a page or two with fitting instructions and diagrams.
