Just a quickie as I have heard of this issue before.

Been getting the CEL coming on for a while, at least once a week and usually just after a cold start. Turns off shortly after start up and, as you'd expect, logs a knock sensor code. (I cant remember which code exactly :P)

Scan tool shows knock sensor working and able to detect knock.

As these types of sensors are affected by the torque of the mounting bolt, I thought I'd try something simple first.

I removed the mounting bolt and cleaned the threads on the wire buff (thread was showing signs of corrosion), applied some copper anti-seize grease to the bolt and re-installed it.

It has been over three months now and no codes.

Maybe worth a try before rushing out and purchasing a new knock sensor.

:)

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

I wouldn't expect you not to have done this Jase, but for everyone who might think of doing this, make sure you torque the bolt back up to the specs in the manual. Knock sensors of this type are rather picky when it comes to how they react when not torqued correctly. Too tight and they won't pick anything up and too loose and you'll get false readings.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.
