I'm looking at pedal replacements/covers for the outback (Gen3) to improve my footwork. Too much space between the brake and accel for me to easily heel/toe.

I'm not enamoured by the STI jobbies. Too many shiny and pink bits.

I have my eye on something like these OMP jobs.

Now - the only references I can find on vehicle standards say that pedals must have an anti-slip surface, which these clearly do.  eg: RMS defectable points says "on metal brake pedals, there is no anti-slip surface". However there's reports far and wide of people being defected for pedals with no rubber.

So - anyone know the real situation?  I'm half inclined to go with them anyway, then remove them for pink slip inspections.  I'm in NSW btw.

(yes - I know I'll need to drill the pedals to mount these)

Heel/toe because race car?

I too like the subtle alloy, black rubber sports pedals that STi's get.

In Vic a fail on a RWC inspection would be on a case by case basis.

If the brake and throttle pads were too close together, then it's a fail.

TBH why?

I heel/toe as part of normal driving and have never changed the pedals in any of my cars. All I have done is lower (and change the ratio) of the throttle pedal in my old Ford as it was crazy high compared to the brake.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Its a comfort thing.  I find I can H/T fine at light brake application levels with a sort of left ball of foot  / right arch method, but the accel is too high to do this when braking hard.

why not get a set of these?

They have the lovely non-slip surface made out of the same material that you find on steps. (no not concrete)

For that matter why not just stick some skate deck tape on any pedals you buy?

Yeh they look much better. Only 150 or so dinero if you avoid the Oz dealer rape ($400 - get serious!)

Thanks
