Looks good. Bit of TLC needed on that front bar.

Did you change the wheels? I'm a fan of the stockies but looks good.

Do you have to change anything for it to comply with state standards or just drive it straight off the boat and rego it?

Ya she needs a little love on the front bumper my importer has another here for me just got to get the cash for it and get it painted. I got the wheels for $450 dollars

and the car came with Pirellis with great tread so I swapped them out. As for compliance here in Canada all that is needed here in Alberta is an out of province inspection from a approved inspection facility( 5 pages long at tune of $120 dollars) if it does not pass repairs must be done and car passed within 14 days I believe

or you pay another fee. But as for changing parts, (ie) headlights and the like, no. Although maintenance items yes.

I was also wondering if it is hard to find timing belt kit's and a water pump over there for these cars cause it is impossible here.

Timing belt kits for EJ206/ BH5's are easy to find on websites and dealerships from Japan and most include the water pump. I wish I could find the North American equivalent for  these parts as well.  I know that many parts for 99 GTBs are interchangeable with North American 02 WRX, but there isn't any clear information on the timing belt.

I imported a 99 GTB e-tune wagon in August of this year and had it shipped to Winnipeg. Maybe we can compare notes.

My car passed inspection, but one thing all imported cars must have in Canada is day time running lights.

Yes, daytime running lights is a must in canada - ie Parker's are on as soon as ignition turns on

Hi Jimbo,

I plan on doing a little photo shoot in January with my son ( who is getting a 99 BE5 in a day or two) and my nephew (who just picked up a 99 WRX STI). It's minus 30 degrees Celsius here today and we are waiting for a warmer snowy day to have some 'drifting fun'. I'll post a few photos then. Finding lots of information and motivation from this site. I am lurking in Marks GTB thread suffering from major envy.

I have had many compliments on the colour of my wagon. Guess it is rather unique? The wagon is in the shop getting new rotors and brakes today. Once the mechanical quirks are taken care of, I'll start on the 'upgrades'

Happy New Year!

@cdn99: if you want, I can send you a  partial list of part numbers I compiled for the GTB. It already helped me when ordering the rotors and calipers. I will be continually updating the list as I research and purchase new parts.

86F is right. I am thinking Subaru paints are  fairly soft as there is a fair amount of swirls and light scratches I will need to remove with a medium grade compound.  I am thinking I will have to be fairly gentle with this paint and clear coat.

@cdn99gtb: I'll PM you today. I also have bumper  damage. I think every import from Japan has this LOL.
