where are you, what sort of state is the engine swap in?

Almost any EJ2x (20 22 or 25) will bolt up to your trans and subframe, but you'll need matching ECU and wiring looms.

The '93-94 EJ20 is getting a bit long in the tooth - may be worth thinking of upgrading to a more recent EJ25 out of a forester, legacy or impreza.

Thanks for the reply's
NSW near Nimbin
Where is subabits ?
Took sump off and it is full of metal flakes that look like aluminium and are magnetic.
Ok so I can look for any of the motors you advised the sub frame was engineered as it is in kombi so do the engines you advise have the same bolt pattern - if I seem vague I am a female with basic knowledge
Thanks :-)
Ps just spent $1800 getting heads done

yeh - the 'box should be '4-bolt', and all the NA engines will bolt up to it.

If you've just redone heads etc (and they survived the metal shavings running around your oil) - maybe a matching block is the way to go, as it avoids all the electrical/ECU swap issues and can be put together with your redone heads and bolted in. It really depends on your budget.

going to 2.5 may invalidate your conversion engineering cert.

Others on here have more expertise matching blocks (later EJ20's, like impreza) and heads than I - experts like subabit should also be able to help.

Fantastic help greatly appreciated taking sump to local subaru mechanic who says he will get the metal flakes diagnosed so should have better idea Tomoz :-)
The wiring conversion was done quite rough so was getting the wiring redone so if unable to get block will perhaps get reco engine and get rewired to suit now that I know it will fit on the Sub frame
Sweet thanks :-)

I wonder if there will really be any pics. Altough I understand there may be some memory issues when one lives in Nimbin :)

Just for Reference.
--ALL EJxx heads will bolt to ALL EJxx Blocks

--PRE, MY99 intake manifold has a different bolt spacing to MY99 onwards.

--SO in your case, any EJ Bottom end can bolt onto your nice quad-cam heads.  (You do need to check the deck height as some pistons may contact the heads/ valves,)
you just use your existing intake and exhaust manifolds and all engine sensors to work with your existing ECU

the Gen2 Liberty came with the quad-cam 2.5,
they have a habit of blowing Head-gaskets so a good EJ25D block or complete motor needing a gasket job, could be had reasonably cheaply,
Bolt on your manifolds and off you go.
