So I'm gonna start a project and build a motor for my b4
I would like to make a hybrid say a 207 bottom end and 206 head with all upgraded internals
Has anyone done this kinda thing?
Can someone steer me down the right track
And what options I have
Thank you

207 heads flow better than the twin  turbo heads due to bigger valves and ports and have a better selection of cams to choose from... use the whole 207!

as long as you remove all the rubbish TT system and convert to single at the same time,

why not.

you won;t get more than 200 ATW
simple, it's been tried and tried and tried before.
the intake is a restrictive mess,
the exhaust is worse with two gas flows merging head on into each other.
and the firing order is all wrong for proper simultaneous operation

If it were good, Subaru would still use it

My first rebuild was done exactly like that, although I wasn't going for power or anything, had 207 bottom end and manual B4 heads (not that I think there are any differences between the heads with auto/manual). It's doable, but not many gains. I bought the 207 short motor as a replacement to the 208.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

Billsy had a weapon of a TT motor. I think it was putting out 220-230 kW atw for a while there. Although it was far from stock. Every component had either been replaced with something different or reworked significantly.

Haha, Richo, whatever gains you get with the electric motor horsepower wise are offset by the weight of the batteries. The only gain in that equation is fuel economy.

I have a repeatable 221kw atw on Willall Racing's dyno with a stock intake. There's nothing wrong with the stock intake at all. I'm running E85 though.

You'd be battling to make much more than that with a vf34 on E85.

I'd say with a larger intercooler and some hybrid TD04's you'd see plenty more power. Pretty good around town too.

Has anyone else got suggestions of what I can do with the 207?

Changing head gasket thickness, someone may know how to do the calculation.

Why chase a 207 specifically if you are going to change the pistons?

pistons are virtually all the same, the variants are comp ratio, forged or not and oversize!

ej20s are ej20s thats the beauty of them

the 207 block is a semi closed deck thats what is the desired part
