Good daily!
They'll cave. I reckon mid cycle they'll bring out a GT model after consumer backlash. I'm suprised they didn't go the other way and discontinue the 3.6R and put a GT in it's place. Wouldn't one think their new DIT mills would be more efficient than the ageing EZ36?
Problem is the EZ36 is more of a well rounded engine (smooth) and preferred in North America. The power and torque it currently delivers can be coped by the new high torque CVT.
A potential GT at this stage would be restricted to the WRX's 197KW and 350NM or torque in the CVT whilst not delivering any better fuel economy/ there isn't as much of a demand for this potential GT in North America...
In the end, it all depends on whether North America wants a GT or not...
