Hi Bros! Long time no see :)

So, I don't drive the B4 anymore. It just sits in the garage, like a work of art basically  ;)   It has been undriven (an unloved) for about a month.

I cycle to work or take my 50cc scooter, and use the wifes car on weekends.

Is there any special maintenance things I should be doing or looking out for if I plan to regularly leave it sitting there for months at a time?

It's on a ctek charger, so I've got the battery covered.

Apart from checking the oil/coolant before a drive, anything else I should be looking out for?

fork. Forgot about that. It's probably dropped a few octane ratings.

Damn B4 needed 98 octane.

Pretty sure you can get stuff to make it last longer. Otherwise maybe just add a few litres before you drive it?

Yeah, it's pretty low on the fuel at the moment. So I can just half fill next time I'm going to drive it for a bit.

I remember reading somewhere that when your tyres are left stagnant it could have a negative effect on the longevity and shape of them. If I remember correctly, it had something to do with the lubricants/oils in the actual materials of the tyre that are slowly squeezed from where the tyre meets the ground. I know it could be just a few weeks between you driving the car but it's better to be mentioned than forgotten I guess.

A similar thing happened to my VS when I lost my licence. You could tell that the tyres had deteriorated and looked "dry" if you know what I mean.

Tyre pressures are another one whilst you're at it.

Mine sit for anything up to 8 months at a time without being driven.

Same as you, I use a maintenance charger but I pump the tyres up to 60psi to reduce the likelihood of flat spots (usually they will go away after some driving) plus I keep the tank low and splash a bit of fresh 98 in each drive.

Best to keep using it every few months to keep everything lubed and run the air con every drive to circulate the oil in the system.

Never really had any issues arise from lack of use in over 20 years! :)

This.

Never bothered with this stuff but most people I speak to swear by it.

Awesome link Jase.

Battery is the only real issue and you have it covered.

If you are REALLY worried about tyres, my dad puts jack stands under any cars he doesn't expect to drive for a while, but that's like 1-2 years, not 1-2 months.

You only really need to look into the more serious side of it when you put it away for storage, then things like moisture and fluid draining come into the equation.
