Gentlemen,

Seem to be having a problem with my climate control heating. I cant get the thing to put out any warm air until I wind it up to 32 degrees. It's cold/ambient until it's cranked right until literally 32 degrees, where it will pump out 32 degree air. All other temp settings below 32 are the same.

I have no gurgling or water problems behind the dash which makes me think something might be wrong with the unit itself? If not that, is it likely to be a blocked heater core?

Jimbo, out.

From what I was told by Ben at ichiban when my climate control unit failed on the Heritage, your import(?) has a sensor within your dash as opposed to AUDM models coming with the sensor built into the front of the control unit. Best to ask Ben on this issue perhaps?

Will it read outside temp Jimbo? (external temp sensor)

Do these units have the ability to run a self check? Nugget Commodores from the late 90's could, and Im wondering if these have a similar feature.

If can pump out nice hot air then I doubt it will be a blocked heater core. You can check by feeling the heater hoses with heater on flat out.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

It does everything fine, A/C is good, reads the temp correctly. It just wont push out any warm or hot air until set to 32 degrees. Normally on a cold day, sitting on about 22-25 is ample. Was just blowing ambient air.

Ambient temp sensor could be stuffed.

Have a read of the ac section of the factory manual. There is a diagnostic mode these have. I just can't remember the combination of buttons to press to put it into the mode. It will cycle through all the temp sensors etc and show you the reading on the faulty one. Whichever one is wrong will be the one. I'd hazard a guess it will be the interior temp.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

I agree Ben, interior temp sensor.

I would assume that's the sensor in the bottom right hand corner behind the small round bezel? It has a corrugated tube running from the back of it, behind the unit.

Okay, just found the procedure to check the unit and got the following results.

DTC Error Codes -21 and 25. Note at the bottom of the Workshop Manual :

NOTE:
If DTC 21 or –21 appears on the display, replace the A/C control module. The in-vehicle sensor is built into
the A/C control module and cannot be replaced as a single unit.

Looks like I need a new one. Any difference between JDM and AUDM?

Might be worth cracking the unit open and see if the sensor can be un soldered?

If it's the sensor I think it is, should be able to. Probably easier to replace the whole unit.

Probably, but Im just thinking of another fix if AUDM and JDM have different pinouts in the plug.
Most likely they would be the same Id imagine.
