Hey. Been having a problem with combustion. Had the injectors (yellow tops) out, cleaned and tested. All good there. I may possibly have had a leaking lower Injector seal. The fella that did them said I should get oem o-rings because they're side feed. But surprise surprise the local dealership doesn't carry them, i've tried nissan (apparently same Injector?) But it looks like i'll have to order them and I was hoping to have my car for the weekend. Anyone have experience with either?
TIA. Brad.

Whilst either will work.....i would always go oem for injector seals, they are one of the seals/gaskets that subaru did right
Never played with side feeds, but have seen issues with generic top feed ones
But if you dont mind the work and you just need them to get it on the road..just put generic ones in and order some oem ones to swap later

I had a leaking injector in the Outback caused by a nick in the o ring. Got an identical o ring from the o ring kits at work. No issues before I sold it and Id doubt any since.
Subaru wont be making their own o rings...

If its just your typical o-ring then yep aslong as its pretty much identical there would be no issue....i have no problem using generic ones on the upper seal into the rails as i have done
Im just going off the thicker lower seal on the top feeds, which is a thick ring seal...not your typical o-ring at all
And comparing oem ones with generic ones, the fit was way off....i even had some cosworth ones and they were so sloppy
I never thought subaru made there own o-rings, like a lot of those bits they would be supplied by a company who specialize in them....but the ones they supply for top feeds at least are a perfect fit, and im yet to find a generic seal that fits as snug
But the side feeds may be different...i dont know unfortunately

My bad, was referring to top o ring not bottom one. Bottom one I'd only get from Subaru.

Yep oem for sure
Usually overnight shipment from subaru
The bottom o-ring usually causes a vac leak too

Should've mentioned that i've got side feeds if I didn't. Subaru wanted $160+ for 8 o rings. So I didn't go with them. I got an entire rebuild kit for them for $12.50 per Injector. The backfire issue has been solved. I used engine oil to lubricate them when a refitted them
