Hi all :)

Just wondering if a 2010 Forester XT Driveline would fit into a 2003 Liberty RX Automatic with no issues.

Physically yes it will fit. But you will need a manual gen 3 tail shaft.

And you will need to check if the gearbox has a speed sensor as MY10 forester may be CANBUS?

Is the tail shaft in the picture above not suitable? Why would I need a GEN3 one?

I believe the speed sensor is just a standard 3 pin plug so it should just plug straight in with no issues.

Tail shaft is the wrong length for gen 3
Need a gen 3 manual as Adrian suggested

Everything else will be fine providing its a 3 pin speed sensor like the gen 3 one
Also like Adrian said :P

Not to familiar with the pedal box arrangement in the gen 3 but in the gen 2 the accelerator and brake were joined together in the same frame

But the clutch pedal will bolt in on its own so will be fine

So issues would be:

- Tail shaft would need to be from a manual GEN3

- Speed sensor would need to be 3pin to suit GEN3

- Accelerator and brake pedal may need to be from a manual GEN3

- ECU would need to be from a manual GEN3 with matching wiring loom

The first 3 issues can be easily sorted but the ECU and wiring would be more difficult to get around. Would tricking the ECU into thinking it's in neutral cause issues?

I believe most people do it this way. It should work but might have some gremlins
