Actual fuel consumption

Cary Corser's Photo Cary Corser 08 Jun 2015

Hey everyone!

Just out of curiosity i wanted to ask what everyones actual fuel consumption is..
I drive a 04 liberty gt, and was pretty shocked that i only got 384km out of a tank, mainly all suburban driving. Center clock says it is 13l/100km.

Thats about right for the auto 2.0T Gen4. Mine was pretty much the same with the wife driving it around town.

Fill right up, set the trip to zero and drive til the fuel light comes on. Fill up to the top again and record fuel amount and kms driven since last fill.

Work out actual litres per 100kms on the above info.

Suburban driving fuel consumption figure of around 13L/100km is about right. I get that if I do stop start driving to and from work.

Around 9.5L/100km. This is calculated by resetting the trip meter every time i fill up. I spend most of my time on highways and motorways.

Subarus chew fuel, its just a fact of life.

Yea, base factory tune is pretty thirsty, plus the boxer engine isn't the most economical design around. Getting a tune can drop it substantially. I'm running a shade under 200kW and still sitting on about 9-10L/100k. If I use the right foot a bit more it jumps though.
That's country driving though. No way I'd get that in the city.

i get between 4-450 to a tank in a manual rex.

all country driving tho

In the end i can drive up to 600km most weeks. The Gen3 fuel tank is 64 litres.

I think the stock AUDM B4 tune needs to be slightly richer.

All these figures are great but the OP is asking about a Gen4 auto 2.0T. Other models and drive trains arent really relevant to his question. :)

We're not on the Lib Gen 4 thread.

Snap. :P

Still, comparing different cars, drive trains, driving style and terrain and saying "I only do highway" isnt really relevant to the OP's car no matter if he asked what others get. ;)

I agree completely...

I guess the point is 'buy a turbo EJ Suby - don't expect good fuel consumption'.

They're fairly old tech, and nothing like the new Euro turbos.

Maybe the FA20F is better.

Yeh my wifes VW 1.4 TSI gets 6 - 7L / 100kms.

Ive always said that I dont care what my cars fuel economy is, as long as the car makes me smile every time I get into it.

Yeah was just a general question, not really specific to any model car ☺

Yeahh i agree 100% hah. Smiles per litre over miles per litre every day!!!
Also Interesting to see such a drop in fuel consumption after a tune... i guess that will have to be next on the list!

Lol my Gen2 GTB used to get something like 23L/100kms.

My Gen4 GTB used to get about smack on 13L/100kms

And now my current Gen3 GTB gets about 14-15L/100kms

You're not doing it right lol...my old car gained over 150km a tank with the latest tune.....Mick tuned the low end to give incredible off boost torque

Even my car on e85 gives me anywhere from 10l to 13l per 100km cruising

Foot down is more like 20l to 75l though lol
