So , who knows there stuff about outbacks then ?
I can't decide between a Gen 3 and a Gen4 H6 model that i'm looking at. Which is a better car ?
I've read Gen3's can be problematic and don't know too much about the Gen4 models.
I really like the look of the older models but not if i'm gonna have issues.

The factor is that the price is a fair bit more.
But the Gen 4 will beat the 3 in almost every way.

AFAIK, all the problems were ironed out after the gen2 with the HG fail.
Apparently there can be a viscous coupling issue but only if you don't treat her right.
Like all cars, maintain it and it will maintain you.
I do agree, the gen4 is a better car because it's newer.
But if you like the older one, go for it
I only have the 2.5 though so I can't speak for the H6 cars. H6 only comes in auto

That's a bit of a silly question! Of couse the Gen 4 will be the better car.
The factor is that the price is a fair bit more.
But the Gen 4 will beat the 3 in almost every way.
That's not always the case, just because it's a newer model doesn't always mean it's a step
in the right direction. Especially the first new model.

Thats true. And the Gen4's (although much more plush and nicer design) had a few quality niggles which let them down. That's not always the case, just because it's a newer model doesn't always mean it's a step
in the right direction. Especially the first new model.
The Gen5 has a big issue a "shaking steering wheel" in the States and Subaru has issued a service bulletin about them. Also lots of sunroof issues as well. Christ I hope Subaru are not dropping their build quality...its one of the few things they got going for them since they started designing abominations on wheels.
